Hey guys,
Been looking at lists and stuff online (though had to stop as the discount games tournament lists aren't working) and see archons pop up a lot in lists. I have a vague understanding of why they are good in their own ways I just don't understand how to evaluate what you bring them for. So if any of you could explain to me when to take archons and which ones to take in khador I'd be very appreciative.
Thank you.

We can use 4 different Archons in our lists: - the Void Archon in Wolves of Winter - the Menite Archon in Warriors of the Old Faith or as a mercenary solo in any theme - the Thamarite and Morrowan Archon in Flame in the Darkness or as a mercenary solo in any theme
I highly recommend one or two Void Archons in any Wolves list. The 2 other themes are more specific as they require models from other factions, but Archons are an important part of those lists. WotoF lists often field 2 Menite Archons, and it's not unusual for FitD lists to have 2 of each Archon.
As a mercenary slot, the Morrowan and Thamarite Archons sometimes see play but they're not essential.

Soul denial is quite an important aspect of archons, especially in Wolves where you have lots of bodies which models like Crosse2, gaspy4, infernal master ect will use as soul batteries if you don't have an archon around.
Furthermore they just do lots of work for an 8 point model. The void archon has two boostable P+S 15 slaps AND a boostable spray and can place himself at any point in time to either get more work done or retreat. And on top of that Dark Shroud also helps your own models do more damage too.
So yeah at least one archon in Wolves, there is honestly very little reason not to take a second one too. Their only weakness is zero defence against shooting, which khador can't do much about outside of Sorscha1 and FoW.
Same with the menite archon, but it doesnt have a gun and doesnt buff the rest of you list, but it has better stats and does more work in melee.
Thamarite archons are also incredible ranged work pieces with some control aspects. Morrowchons are defensive pieceswho protect your troops by buffing DEF and making them more accurate. They are also part of shield guard chains.

Okay so if I'm mostly playing jaws of the wolf and armored korps because I like the style what archons should I pick up to help those armies?

In those themes, you can pick the Morrowan Archon for a strong solo with Shield Guard, or the Thamarite one to add an independant solo with a strong ranged presence. If you're playing Zerkova, the Thamarite Archon also gives her rerolls on her attack rolls.

The morrowchon can also be really good for delivering Butcher3 in Jaws. Blinding Radiance and Guard Dog from the War Dog + Devastators do that quite well i am told. That being said i dont think archons are essential in either of those themes.
