I really really love the LOS list building articles for each of the factions. I've been actually starting to buy/build lists off of those articles so I can have some lists ready to teach the game when face-to-face gaming becomes real again

We've gotten a number of questions lately about what we're doing in the next year. This article attempts to answer those questions with a bit of a look behind the curtain at what Line of Sight has planned for early 2021. We are excited to share them with you, thank you for the tremendous support this year! www.loswarmachine.com/reviews/2020/12/18/state-of-the-cast-2020-and-2021

Diplomachine is pretty awesome. I love narrative play! A Frostgrave sort of Fallen Corvis gameplay is going to be awesome. Something feel short with Company of Iron. Many didn't buy in because it seems like just a side game. Releasing Frostgrave or even Rangers of Shadowdale-ish systems and scenarios around it would have made COI awesome. Glad to see you all picking up the torch!

In a way, it's kind of sad that it takes a third party to get people to listen to these kind of ideas. But I guess that happens when no one buys the periodical that used to contain such concepts.

To be fair, It was probably a bad idea to launch a new game a few months after disbanding the Press Gang, which was the primary mechanism to be used to market new games to players. Not sure if they had a choice with regards to the timing, mind you, but it certainly didn’t help.

What I'd really love to see is a balancing patch/ comp score for the game, because PP apparently isn't that interested in keeping things sane rules-wise. The LOS team has enough respect now not to be ignored if they came up with one.

The LOS team has enough respect now not to be ignored if they came up with one. Nope, very bad idea. Official and unofficial formats is one thing, but official and unofficial rule sets would be a death sentence to the game. Also, no offense to Jaden and the rest at LOS, but the idea that an even smaller group of testers would be able to more effectively balance the game is wishful thinking.

Well, that's what happened to WH40K and WFB, much smaller groups of players created rulesets that were WAY better balance-wise than out-of-the-box GW (Swedish comp for 40K or balancing patch that spawned ETC rules for WFB...actually saved WFB 7th from being totally unplayable). So my experience is strongly for grassroot initiatives like this in wargames, you just need guys you trust know the game inside-out, not some biased randoms as in CiD.

On the other hand I've seen games see horrible results because of a lack of player input. Most are from video games, but they still apply. Just because it should work on paper, doesn't always make it work in practice, especially when there are those people who just like to make situations burn.
Of course, it is easier to get objective feedback from a computer than it is from people. If there was a way to keep politics out of CiD, I'd be all for it, but that would require taking the human component out of it. If CID was mostly Battle Reports with the items in question, that'd probably help, but people always have to add to it.

Just saw this! Amazing, I think Brawlmachine might really end up at the very top of being just the most amazing warmachine format! I think PP has every reason to support it!
