They also posted the render of the model. usually the actual sculpt looks better but this is the basic idea they currently are using.

Urgh. No AD. Disappointing Ambush but no AD is an odd choice, have to agree there.

I haven't yet written a list for it though Edit: Which, yeah, has only been a few hours, but I've written a lot of lists in those few hours.

I rather like him.
Pleasantly surprised that he's Stealth and SPD 6.
Particularly delighted at Gunfighter with AOE mines.

The sculpt is very football player meets trencher, with added spikes and mines.

The Gunfighter, AOE mines, no immunity to blast damage, and his fluff description are my favourite things about him. He is so totally capable of just blowing himself off the table in an adorable fashion.

Iunno being able to lay a mine on a flag turn 1, then another after ambushing seems plenty strong to me.

The initial mine is indeed great, but he doesn't do much after that besides one turn of contesting with ambush.
Placing a mine after ambushing will almost always be a mistake imo. He's better off just doing a regular ranged attack to maybe land a pow 14 on one target. The only exception is in Bunkers or Spread the Net, where he can barely walk and place a mine to cover the side flags. But even then, the mine will only be detonated at the start of your next turn, so the opponent has some time to play around it.
I wouldn't say he's in a bad spot, but he feels a bit underwhelming currently.

Iunno being able to lay a mine on a flag turn 1, then another after ambushing seems plenty strong to me. The issue I find is two-fold. One is that dropping mines on flags is the only thing he is good at. They're the only board position you can consistently guarantee your opponent will have to move to, and that the models they put there will often (but by no means always) be ones that die to a POW 14. Otherwise the mines are hilariously easy to avoid. And the second part is that he isn't even good at the one thing he's "good" at. You can't stop your opponent from scoring, so all he does is put pressure on their scoring resources for later turns, but more than that the game has plentiful solos that will straight up not worry much about an unboosted 14. Beyond the Girded solos (and both Protectorate and Mercenaries, two of the bigger meta problems, have Girded on tap and in their strongest lists), nearly every faction has Archons that can tank a POW 14 without being overly worried. Even Infernals, the faction that would least like to be copping POW 14s on their solos, will usually have Hauke and the Umbral Guardian capable of eating a POW 14. Not to mention the option of having a Warlock/Warcaster tank the hit safely using Focus/Fury and scoring instead if it's safe to do so. Does potentially dictating the positioning of these solos and taking away 4-5 points of their health have value? Sure it does. Is that value strong and consistent enough to pay 3 (or even 6) points for in Minion themes where points are tight and strong solos with consistent, compelling uses abound? I would argue pretty firmly that it isn't.
