Hi all,
let´s say I´d like to run a rather shooty focused list, what would you choose?
By which shooty army have you been impressed?
Is there even some beast / jack heavy shooty army out there?
It doesn´t matter which faction, I just want to know where I have to look for good shooty armies to start a new project.
Thanks in advance.

Most factions can have a solid shooty build. I guess Cygnar or Retribution are the most obvious/straightforward ones but certainly not the only ones.

Off the top of my head:
In Khador you can take Vlad 1 with lots of Winter Guard (rifles and rockets), with Joe of course. Three Marauders are an economical battle group. The Greylord attachment hands out magic weapons and eyeless sight. Vlad's Signs and Portents buffs accuracy and damage of all those guns, his feat means his jacks are not to be taken lightly, and he can kill stuff himself if needs be. Butcher 1 can also run a high-damage gunline due to his feat, but overall Vlad's gunline is probably better.
In Cygnar Sloan is built specifically to run a warjack gunline; her combination of spells and abilities give her jacks eyeless sight, extra range, extra boosts, and even extra attacks.

Yep, Garryth2 shooting list seems pretty popular. Just don't forget you need a strong melee backing.

I'm interested in this thread too, easing myself back into the game after 8E 40k. Any tips for Legion shooting? I assume some combination of the usual suspects: Ravagore, Bolt thrower, and Lylyth2?

FWIW Warmachine/Hordes is designed to be a not-shooty game. Gun ranges are roughly on par with how far melee units can charge. Guns tend to be slightly less accurate, powerful, and/or generate as many attacks per turn as melee does.
And before anyone chimes in with "oh but what about ..." - Exceptions exist.

I think that is GENERALLY true and a key balancing principal. HOWEVER, some of the best A tier lists in the games history are those that are those exceptions - a notable one being the Haley2 lists of old that used her time walking feat to get 2 turns of high value shooting or back in Mark1 how OW1 used Her feat to do a similar thing. One caster to look at which isn't a control caster if you are buying into the faction is a double battle engine (Railless interceptor) build with Syvestro. Great shooting piece, lots of threat ranges because of that and you are likely to have some cannons and then PERHAPS some other shooting. Not the volume you see with, for example the prirates list or Vlad1 but a highly competitive list and one which is "fun" and GENERALLY straight forward.

I'm sure there are troll players who will tell you that this army is really terrible.
It might be. But I disagree. Guided fire from the Gunnbjorn and Mark Target from all of the solos make this army… interesting.
I have had a lot of success and fun with it.

The Bomber is very nice, but it does not have Dual Attack like the Blitzer does. That is very important for the melee against big stuff. Since the army does not have any Maulers the Blitzers fill that role while still being able to shoot. I know a lot of people here do not like the Blitzer, but I do, and its flexibility with the Dual Attack makes this army a very flexible, take on all comers kind of army. That, and I don't want to give anything up for the extra point needed to convert one to a Bomber.

I think I'd rather take the Mauler to have at least a ghost of a chance against any amount of armor, but maybe you have a different drop for that. Of course I haven't field tested the list, so maybe it functions better on the field than on paper.

Thanks all for your answers so far. I had a look at the different factions and it came down to Skorne (Morghoul2), Cygnar (Gravediggers), Trollbloods and Legion, all due to look of models.
Though Syvestro and 2 Railless battle engines is something that sounds pretty intresting.
