Hello! Long break from gaming, and I never was a good player. If we meet for a game, my gaming-buddys start reading rules and think about they're lists and the armys of the others, I startet powerpainting to get a good lookin' army. The outcome was always clear. It's ok for not winning, but I still like to have an army on the field, that could, at least theorethical, have a game, nevertheless if I could play it right or not. So here is my question/problem: How, and with what, fight DeneghraI (Cryx) with lots an lots of Satyxen? At least, I have one of every Modell from the menoth-range, even though they are still not all finished and painted, but I could make a prior-to-paint-list . I don't want to play Harbinger, and I don't have multiples, but two Vassals. And I have only one Collossal. I can interchange it with magnets, so it can be a Judicator or a Relevator. But like Harbinger, I would prefer not to play this, but If I need to, to have a competitive list, I would play it So what should I bring to this fight? I was thinking about EI, would that be a good theme for this fight? And if not, what theme and with what would be a good start? Thanks a lot for your help!

Satyxis are (relatively) quick and have decent defense, but terrible armor. They also don't hit particularly hard. Deneghra can help with that last part, but will be most effective on the feat turn, for that reason you should layer your army so he can't get to everything all at once. A Judicator is a very good colossal and even though the Raiders will be immune to blast damage, the sprays are still very good and accurate. You can make it untargetable by spells, meaning those P+S 11 whips will have trouble cracking armor. Menite Archons can also be a tough nut to crack for Cryx, especially if you bait him into killing something first. Also remember that while Force Barrier may make the Raiders immune to blast damage, it doesn't make the immune to Continuous Fire, so if all else fails, just set the world on fire.
Deneghra suffers the same weaknesses as the Satyxis by the way; hard to hit, but fragile. Sometimes she will be coming forward too aggressively to feat and that's when you simply kill her.
I wouldn't specifically bring EI to fight this as they will get debuffed an annihilated, though Errants can be quite annoying for them to handle.

Gamingdevil is correct, Denegra and the satyxis are fast, hard to hit, and the latter will most likely be immune to blast damage but the one thing most Cryx stuff hates is being lit on fire. A POW 12 roll is going to seriously hurt deneghra and will annihilate any satyxis you get. You need to plan to take the alpha strike and plan to have your front line debuffed and annihilated. You need to seriously regulate how much you give your opponent and set up for that retaliation. Things with vengeance, or things that get buffed when their friends die will do really well on the retaliation. Also, the more anti-casty you bring, the sadder Deneghra is because she lives by her debuffs. Parasite and Crippling grasp turns her army up to 11's and stacked with her feat, all of your heavy duty armor pieces just fall apart. Preventing those spells from landing through spell ward or the no casting aura and killing any arc nodes that get close are priority.

Ui, thank's you all for the good advice! :-) If I understand you right, the Satyxes are fast and fragile, but hard to hit. And I must beware of the buffs/debuffs. So aegis of EI would help. Gamingdevil and tiberius also say EI, and paradox says Feora1 Next will be 50 points (if this corona-thing will allow gaming again), and my first try in listbuilding is this: Protectorate [Theme] Exemplar Interdiction [Feora 1] Feora, Priestess of the Flame [+31] - Hand of Judgment [18] - Redeemer [11] High Exemplar Gravus [8] Menite Archon [8] Scrutator Potentate Severius [0(6)] - Repenter [8] Choir of Menoth (min) [4] Exemplar Cinerators (max) [13] - Exemplar Cinerator Officer [0(5)] Knights Exemplar [9] This comes exactly to 50 points. Complete bullshit, or are there some tweaks a good idear?
Better to switch both Feora's Jacks to one Judicator?
Again, thank you very much! :-)

Feora1’s feat is essentially a hard counter to most infantry armies. All you have to watch out for is exposing Feora1 too much. It won’t do you any good to kill his entire army if Deneghra feats, hits Feora with Crippling Grasp, and watches her die to a single hit from a jack.

Make her redeemer a devout. Turns off spell assassinations. Wall of Fire is GREAT vs satyxis. So is Blazing Effigy. And it can target any friendly jack, not just battle group. So make Sev0’s repenter a dervish. So you can effigy it after it buries into satyxis for max carnage.
That saves 3pts, which can be a hierophant or some wracks/mechanics.

Feora1 is great into the matchup, she provides a ton of control. I wouldn't trust the feat to consistently help, though.
Feora2 is being slept on hard now. Even things immune to blast have to deal with the continuous fire from Firestarter. 1 Judicator or 2 Redeemers can just throw the fire out and FM gives Feora the buff to her jacks that she really misses from the Mk2-3 transition.
And Escort is such a strong spell, those extra 2" of movement allow your jacks to out threat a ton of the field or get into stronger positions earlier.

Feora1’s feat is more about its threat than effect, sure. She’ll rely on Wall of Fire, Blazing Effigy, and sprays, as a personal output. That said, the opponent absolutely cannot discount the feat. Especially playing Denny and satyxis. There will come a point where they will have to risk it. Even a bad Feora1 feat turn roughly equals casualties Feora2 can inflict with feat. But Feora1 has a much better anti-satyxis kit.

Hello! michael: thank you too for giving hints on how to play this! Well yes, I'm a bad player *g*, so every help here is needed . privvy: interesting! But that would be a different army, right? Feora2 with Judicator and Redeemers. Perhaps I try this on a different matchup. paradox: thank's a lot for the hints and suggestions, how to use that army! I'm realy more of a bad player than anything else. But I love to play with all that beautiful and painted minis, that's where my motivation cames from. And my gaming buddys are nice guys, always drink a beer or two and have a realy nice evening! Corona still shuts down our next gaming evening, but things are starting to get into flow. So it is very possible, that we start again with more players. But that's not too bad, because not all of the used models are painted, some some extra time is appreciated . For that, we might downgrade the size to 35 points, but that's not clear yet. I have changed the list to paradox suggestions, it serves one point, which I put into a wrack. It is not more because of the warjack points from the caster. Is this still legal? So I did not use four points of the WJ-points!? conflictchamber.com/?c2200O_-1r0-1reVm0oLlM1q3B2_lZlS2jProtectorate [Theme] Exemplar Interdiction [Feora 1] Feora, Priestess of the Flame [+31] - Devout [9] - Hand of Judgment [18] High Exemplar Gravus [8] Menite Archon [8] Scrutator Potentate Severius [0(6)] - Dervish [7] Wrack [1] Choir of Menoth (min) [4] Exemplar Cinerators (max) [13] - Exemplar Cinerator Officer [0(5)] Knights Exemplar [9] And this is the smaler one, if we play only 35 points. Because of the one less theme-point, it looks quite different. I hope, it still is in the same mood/idear than the 50 one. conflictchamber.com/?c2200z_-1r0-1reV9xlM1q30lZlSProtectorate [Theme] Exemplar Interdiction [Feora 1] Feora, Priestess of the Flame [+31] - Devout [9] - Hand of Judgment [18] - Repenter [8] Scrutator Potentate Severius [0(6)] - Dervish [7] Choir of Menoth (max) [6] Exemplar Cinerators (max) [13] - Exemplar Cinerator Officer [5] For me, this is a realy good disscussion, again, thank's you all a lot!

I actually didn't mean to endorse playing EI and just noticed that I had made a typo. Cinerators' shields will get ignored by the Raiders' Chain Weapon rule, so with a debuff, they will simply die. If you're set on playing EI, I would recommend some Errants as your main line troops.

Hello! privvy : interesting! But that would be a different army, right? Feora2 with Judicator and Redeemers. Perhaps I try this on a different matchup. You could do Feora2 with 2 Redeemers and then whatever you were planning outside of that. The only problem with her is that she really doesn't do much for the army at large, so any units would really have to be self sustaining. She would really just be running jacks that can self fuel or don't need focus as much. If you're looking to run Exemplar Interdiction, she probably isn't right for you. If you run Creator's Might or Faithful Masses, then there's a list to be made.

Pick one of those and give it a go when you have a chance. Your personal experience should let you tweak from there. Youre a bit bricky, so just watch scenario.

Hi, late, but we had a game We went for 50 points. I don't know exactly what my opponent run, sorry for that, I just don't know the Cryx' well enough for that. What I remember, it contains: - Deneghra - 1x Collosal - 1x small jack (bonejack?) - 1x 10 Man, äh girls unit that could ambush from the side - big unit of Trolls - lots of special Satyxes with realy funny shooting stuff/rules But I can tell you what I was running. Little bit different from this tread, because I became lazy and to slow with the paintings: Theme: EI - Feora1 - Devout - Hand Of Judegement - min Choir - High Exemplar Gravus - 1x Wrack - Menite Archon - Exemplar Cinnerators + Officer - Exemplar Errants + Officer&Std Don't know the scenario, but there were three zones and two flags to cap. One Zone for only complete units inside, a big round one in the middle of the table, and two square ones for jacks to capture He went first, everything forward ------- I run&walk everything forward. Had lots of issues with activation order and what buffs what with what. To long a break, to complicate the list ------- He feats and did realy funy things . His feat was cool. He named five models, and his ones went up with defens, and my went down with to hit stats. That is realy a cool game mechanic! He cast something like 'black spot' (or so) on my Exemplar Errants, shots a lot of them and charge them with the trolls, killed nine of the twelve. I realy had forgotten, that he had that ambush unit. Lucky enough, on one side were Gravus, but to far away from the board side to become charged. On the other side there were two members of the choir in reach and I lost them, now with the girls on my side. The Colloss, had collected some marks from my dead bodies and did good shooting, and with his 4" mele-range also killed some stuff and filled a lot of the boxes of my heavy jack, which, at this point still all systems working, but nearly half down in boxes. That was the point where I thought the game was completly lost, even if I could go 2:0 with victory points, Gravus capturing one flag and the devout completly in one of the square zone. -------- What now comes was hard to see, and I did'nt expect anything in that direction! Feora went further forward and feated, and with that 12" bubble, set nearly 2/3 of his army on fire. To make it short and look at the start of the next turn: the dices betray my opponent completly, and he lost more than half his army to the fire, that get out for only two of all that were burning... In that turn the Cinnerators could join the fight, kill some more Trolls, and from far behind, I was now in front. He could still do very funny shooting like this: hit one Cinnerator once, twice, because of that get a third shoot, hit, and move every model of mine in 2" base to base with the originated, and then have an additonal AOE on all of the now clumpsy models. That was cool! Ok, it was late, I was 4:0 with victory points, even if I don't know if I could have get his Collosal, because his 4" reach and hit everything in this area was brutal, but we call it a day then. So I was _very_ lucky with my feat. Otherwise I would have lost _horribly_ and could not have a game into his army. I thinkt the Cryx were much stronger (bar the feat from me), but I was not able to play my army to it's streangth, so perhaps I'm wrong with this, I don't know. Sorry, that I'm not able to bring more details about the Cryx army and what it did exactly. As I said, I was overstrained with my army, not speaking of the matchup on top...

As you mentioned Black Spot, and the feat, that was not Deneghra, but rather Skarre 2 (Skarre, Queen of the Broken Coast). The colossal, was most likely a Kraken, the light warjack was most likely an arc node, either a Deathripper (P+S 12 melee attack) or Nightwretch (POW 14 RNG 6 shot), Cryx likes to use these to arc offensive spells without exposing their caster. The Ambush unit will have been Satyxis Blood Witches, possible with the Command Attachment, the Satyxis Blood Hag. The unit of Trolls will have been either Bloodgorgers (2 melee attacks), or Blighted Trollkin Marauders (shooty unit with Ashen Veil), likely with Jussika Bloodtongue attached. The shooty Satyxis are Gunslingers (3-man unit), Severa (solo that grants them Run & Gun), and possibly Axiara Wraithblade (battle plans).
Hope that helps, I'm glad you had a good time in you're game; it looks like you're doing well.
