My kids have shown an interest in playing Dungeons & Dragons after seeing some of Mighty Nien's shenanigans put in to animatics (particularly "fluffernutter"). A while back I also got them each their own Battleboxes, and they painted them during fall break, so they want to use them.
So I'm planning a little bit of a "one shot" which will have them play Strakhov and Tanith going in to a town based on reports of some odd shenanigans going on. Their Warjacks and Warbeasts will be forced to say outside town for the first part so to not draw undue attention (and so they don't stomp everything right away).
They'll come across some of Boomkin's Company and some Nyss Hunters who they may or may not engage. They may run across Alexia, as they are running around in the town. If they don't engage the Kin and Nyss, Kayazy Assassins will ambush them because the local BEG wanted the Khadoran officer out of the way.
They'll eventually run across Crosse who is getting some training in the Soul Reaver, and helping him down his path of becoming a Thamarite by BEG.
I plan on using the base engine of WMH to run the combat sequences, so they can use their cards and get a little training on game mechanics at the same time. Tanith will basically be able to leech Fury from her Beasts as "normal" through their Spirit Bond, but only be able to transfer 5 points of Damage away at a time (basically a hand-waving of the mechanic since she'll be alone for a time).
I don't have any IKRPG or D&D resources to work from and I've never actually ran a D&D game before, so I'm a little hesitant about things. I'm dedicating this to a one shot so they can use their models as is, and I don't have to worry about building them up to a crescendo of personal power at a later point.
So, I have some questions on how to adjust some of the things.

Would it be bad, or even make a difference, to increase the 1 damage of unit models like Steelheads and Kayazy Assassins to 5 points to match other solos (since I'll have them run similarly in combat) when dealing with basically lone Warcasters?
My BBEG for this one shot was going to be Agathia (I have her Battlebox models), but that wouldn't really work for helping Crosse become a Thamarite, exactly. I was thinking about using Ragman, but he's not really strong enough to take on two Battlegroups by himself, would it be a bad thing to have Ragman be represented in model and weapon, but Agathia's stats, spells, and Feat as such? I'm not worried about the representation, really, but Ragman has a really weak stick for a weapon so that I should boost his Focus up to 8?
As to the final fight, I'm either thinking they'll face this raggedy Thamarite Warcaster with the Cryx Battlebox Jacks with their full Battlebox Jacks, but that's a little outnumbered. Should I add a couple Mercenary Jacks, such as a Nomad or two, along with a unit or two to the mix, or should I bring Crosse1 or 2 in to the mix with mercenary jacks to counter and balance out the aggressor force?
