The artwork looks pretty good to me; I think they have more distinct design elements than the other factions so far. I won't be playing them myself as it's not my personal favourite aesthetic, but I'd be happy to see them across the table.

Unless the Keepers come out and look better to me before I can buy, Empyreans will be the faction I choose.

I'm pretty sure the Keepers are basically the few Convergence folks who went through the Hengehold portal, like Nemo3 and so forth. They're individuals who have been around since humans first took the stargate to the Cyriss galaxy.
(I guess Nemo3 returned back through the portal, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lucant or Aurora went through. I forget exactly what happened in the Hengehold Scroll, and searching it just now, I did not find any explicit mentions of who went through and who stayed behind.)

Which is why I left their release as a possibility. Including their fluff, but not using it for future models, would be counter to the Chekov's Gun principle.
And to put it very bluntly, I don't know when I'll be able to afford getting Empyreans at all, so I could be looking at a length of time that PP felt that the game could support another faction.

There will be keeper models, I am sure of it. But they will just be powerful character models, definetely not a faction. There can't be enough of them left in the galaxy. Unless of course they make a mortal "keepers of the keepers" faction of ancient space monks... Now it sound almost too good

Oh, side note: I agree, the Empyreans look pretty sweet. I honestly have thought about buying a starter box just to paint them.

"Enough" is a very relative term. One full world in a galaxy isn't very much, but more than enough to run a full faction with.

The only argument I can still bring is that they have statet that about 2000 people started humanity in the cyriss galaxy and the keepers would not multiply probably. I think you are right anyways: They will do this evnetually, at least they could. It is their game and they can do what they want I would guess it is a lot of "normal" or clockwork or whatever followers and the keepers are resticted to be the characters, or even you as the "warcaster". That would not be unreasonable at all.

Yeah, I'm just a person who tries to avoid absolutes with very limited information, and the universe is still too young to say one way or the other on how it will turn out.
It may very well be that we may only see automaton servants of the Keepers, but it may also be that Convergance models are transitioned in to it, too, with their numbers bolstered by the humanity as they expanded.
We'll see. I'm rarely against a new faction (unless it's ANOTHER Adeptus Astartes codex), so I hope that something comes out of it, but I'm also patient enough to know that we're probably looking at a couple years down the road before they fully commit to it.

[/div][/quote] What, you didn’t know that Space Marines outnumber every other faction 10:1, judging from the number of books?

What, you didn’t know that Space Marines outnumber every other faction 10:1, judging from the number of books? More three times bitter that my codex-unadherent Black Templar were rolled back in to the main codex because "they didn't have anything to add and might as well have been regular Marines", while the two Angels who are listed as being codex-adherent, but "had plenty to add to the Marines" by people who thought Space Wolves should be put in to the main codex, too.
Edit: But yeah, being the rarest group in the galaxy they had more books than anyone else, unless you consider the entire Imperium doesn't really help things. They do sell well, though.

The Marines are A HOT MESS. They started with having a bit of "Chapter" rules for everybody in 8th. This was pretty reasonable, but they will go back to the confusion they had before. In the end you have everything splintered and impossible to balance with half the codices being Marines. I am glad this is not something that happend with wm/H and also won't happen to Warcaster I guess. You really feel the hurt when the "10th space marine variation and codex" drops, while your CSM or Orks have not seen releases in years. PP is more balanced. I mean imagine every second person would be playing Cygnar

In the end you have everything splintered and impossible to balance with half the codices being Marines. It's not like this is limited to 8th Edition, either. The idea of multiple chapters has been around since 2nd Edition. The Angels and Wolves date back to then. There has been rises and falls of the Chapter Trait system ever since the 4th Edition codex came out. Individual codex books are at 5 plus the basic Marine codex now, and the Marine book has a few more ways to individualize the beyond that. That's not including the time when several Marine chapters go their own supplements a time or two.
A hot mess it is. But they sell, which is why they do it. They are also quite iconic, which is something that PP really hasn't quite done.
