Im starting off with Marcher Worlds. The big old chonky Raptor really made it an easy decision. That and the couple games I've played, the mechanic and dusk wolf are super fun. The infantry are flexible, they got aggressive weavers!
That's something I had some trouble with. I like some design elements of the Iron Star Alliance, and I think they have the best looking heavy. But I don't really like their light, and their infantry aren't grabbing me. Meanwhile I do like some elements of the Marcher Worlds; I prefer their infantry to the Alliance and both their jacks are fine (although I might have to do something about those elbows).
So for now I've settled on the solid Marcher Worlds over the more hit-or-miss Alliance.
My decision was based purely on visual appeal. In the future, when I become more familiar with the fluff and playstyles, I may discover that I've made a horrible mistake...
Im very much in "wait and see" mode with Warcaster. If I do pick it up in future, of the factions we have seen so far The Aeternus Continuum is the one that is turning my head the most. Id like to paint them in a "grimdark" style with oil washes etc and make them look really "evil".
the only model that's caught my interest at all is the Aeternum light 'jack, everything else doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. I'm also waiting to see if they pull out anything exciting, but as long as we don't get some kind of space meat suit faction I doubt I'll join the bonanza.
Marchers and Iron Star Alliance for me! It makes sense to have two armies for the start to make demos. I find the somewhat good guys most appealing. It is a little like Cygnar vs a well written Khador. Just Humans with differend political interests in conflict. The more I see the models the more I actually like them a lot!
Continuum is not so interesting to me, I also did not collect cryx or everyblight for that reason. But it's good that they are there, because people do like that sort of stuff
