Hello Kriels! Recently I have participated in the first round of our local Journeyman League (unfortunately no one really starts the game, it's more a refresher/painting motivation plan).
As we can play customized battlegroups I went for: Grissel1 Bomber Axer
With the intention of harassing hoof it on Bomber (especially from forests). Turns out tactic was so good that my opponents (3) were always super careful in measuring distances and such, up to a point that I got impatient and started taking bold moves 🤣 ended up losing all three games but two were really close (vs CG and Skorne).
What are your fun experiences with Journeyman? Do you think adding a zone or even flag in the first weeks would improve the otherwise stall game?

I've run a fair amount of JML's over the years. If we're allowing custom battle groups I tend to limit people to specific casters, no character wj/wb, and we add a simple scenario element (mangled metal + a zone in the center). Of course I came to these rules after I made some foibles on defining the rules which were too open. Worst I ever did was in legion but I had a nasty troll list week 1 once which had D&S + gunnbjorn with no scenario and I shot things off the table from an excessively far distance and it was no fun for anyone.

My thoughts exactly. Will try to push a homebrew addition of scenario element from the lowest levels...
Regarding casters we didnt exclude anyone but just ask for considerate decisions, not Butcher3 with double Marauders 😛
Heck even Bearka2 with Rok and Pyre could be rowdy.
