Guys. When someone asks you "how far does Butcher 3 threat?" it raises some interesting challenges in respect to the complications on that model compared to your standard WM/H thing.
I have gotten into the habit of saying "Butcher can, on the charge, move 12, pull 17 and has a 2 inch reach. Vengenance adds another 3." That confused opponent the other day who missed the "move" and heard "12 inch threat."
I answer that way because sometimes you can't pull (so it isn't 17). It is important to understand that impending doom is a lot more dependent on Butcher's base position than on where his weapon can reach to. Energize terrain can make (or not) a difference, etec. etc. etc.
Your opinion, easier to say "I can charge something with a 14 inch threat and from there using impending doom get another 3 inches?" But than that confuses folks when I take out the 5 inch widget for Impending doom.
PS. We have Sorscha 0 in play in all of these.

You got it. When i play B3 i simply just layout all the different threat extensions. Speed 5, 2" reach, energizer, vengeance, sorscha0, and a 5" pull. There's so many options that you can't go through every scenario. Honestly with the 5" pull and vengeance, that's where you're looking for your opponent to make a mistake. Not a great way of saying it, but those two are the weird openings that your opponent is either not looking at or accident puts a model too close or shoots a dog at the wrong time.

You point out the tools that you have and say that it's complicated. In the case of Butcher3, it's: 1. Vengeance 2. Energizer 3. Charge 4. Boundless Charge 5. Impending Doom 6. 2" melee range If you have something else in your list to increase that, say so. Otherwise, just list those items and say "it's complicated." Don't give them a "maximum threat range" because you'll likely screw it up.

Yeah list the threat range extension, the full list, but since some of these tools are linear, some are not and some can be countered, it's not really your job to give a total number, as long as you don't hide any threat range extension to the other guy it's all good. Well it's all good in my book.

I think the correct answer is: "Don't worry about it, you're already in his maximum threat range. Just let it happen."

Try playing the Legion Twins and explaining where Rhyas can get to!
But on topic, just tell them his base speed, melee range, vengeance, explain Impending Doom then list any threat extensions you have.
Cheers, Dave
