this is only my feelings and thoughts, based on previous experience working with 100 companies in ua, ru and usa. i see markers, i expect results. no more, no less. you have right to think another way, no forcing.
"hat’s a tremendous amount of extrapolation" yes. this is my job, and why company pay money to me ))

What exactly is "00s design"? I mean, it kinda looks generic magitech scifi. (With a hint of Iosan design, funnily enough)
I mean, there's not a lot of leeway regarding "stuff that has not been done before", scifi is going to be (or at least feel) partly rehashed, simple as that.

I agree, at least as far as "logical human technology" goes. You can certainly try to come up with something really far out, but you risk alienating (ha) your target customer base, at least if you try to sell it as your starter faction. Start off with something solid with broad appeal, get weird and creative with the factions that come later.

You can see the demo here!Im not going to lie. Im actually pretty impressed. Alternating activations, full 3d terrain, full scenario driven play. Very much like Malifaux which i love. I still have the same concerns about distro and buy in from retailer in the UK. But game play wise, im sold.

You know what turned me off? The random cards you draw every turn. Sure, you can ditch your whole hand at the end of the round and hope for a good draw next turn, but it feels like a random element that did not need to get added in.
So the game feels sort of like a game where it’s not always the models you take, not even the dice you roll, but whether you got the right cards for what you have on the table.
Sure you customize the deck, but it still seems sort of random.
I’m not saying it’s all going to be bad, but I think there will be more “ I just got really lucky” moments.

Do we know whether the deck is constructed as “only one of each”, or if it’s possible to construct decks with multiples of cards in order to use probability to mitigate randomness? We didn’t see any crazy OP stuff yesterday. The spells seemed pretty tame. As I recall, Oz wiped almost all of Will’s models in a single turn without casting a spell. Also: getting really lucky seems like it’ll provide a temporary advantage at best, given that you can gate in an entire army in like a turn.

There's still a lot of IFs for me to say for sure if I'll really like this game but I'm at least intrigued. I don't know that any of the factions really appeal to me fluff wise though.
Has anyone else gotten a sort of Firefly vibe from the models/fluff they've shown so far?

I'm probably buying everything and making demos for the game. The rules are so simple and easy to learn, but there's such a strategic depth. It seems like they mixed a lot of good elements from other games together. Really a step in the right direction for the company.
I just hope that they do away with short ranges. I would love a range 20 sniper or something, like how Infinity can have a 72" range gun. It realistically won't come up, but it'd add a lot of flavor and give the guns an actual gun feel.

That looks far more enticing than I had expected it to! I'll be keeping an eye on it... got to say that I don't find those models enticing though. I'm in this for the big stompy robots, and they've both got an uninteresting aesthetic complete with freakishly tiny feet and that chicken-leg setup I always find offputting.
So I'm keen, but I'll hold off for models that take my fancy

Well, we’ve already seen base RNG 12 assault rifles, with effective +3” “place” effects on top of advancing, and were told about a couple Snipe-like effects... I mean at that point somebody is already shooting across half a 48” x 48” table. Not to mention that you can just gate in your dudes in the thick of it! I don’t know if there will be any practical difference between, say, RNG 12 and RNG 24 from what we’ve seen so far!

They could have long ranges, but actually shorter is usually less abusive, espcially with 360° of sight. But you will move your units around a lot anyways - because of the scenario elements.

Very true, there are a lot of if's. And it is hard to get a feel for factions when you only know of half of them. A third is to be revealed during Kickstarter, and the original announcement stated a total of four for release. Honestly, I do hope one is non-human as I tend to not favor human factions as much over all for my personal collections (despite my avatar). Has anyone else gotten a sort of Firefly vibe from the models/fluff they've shown so far? Not for me, really. The March doesn't quite have a Browncoats feel, and the Alliance are too well armored to match the Alliance troops we see in the last days of the Unification War. (To be fair, that was shot with a tv show budget and not a AAA movie budget).
