Hi Trollock, just read your EE 2.0 on LoS Warmachine and I have to answer / start a discussion here. First of all, after a long absence I had restarted Hordes with EE 2.0 shotrly before it became kind of hot shit (note that the rules were out for almost 1.5 years before EE started its conquest). Due to the fact that I wanted to play a warbeast heavy list and EE was cool looking and NOT mainstream back then. After playing EE for around 6 months I started to fall in love with Calandra and looked for others ways to play her, ie her second available Theme force these days called "Children of Dhunia" (if I remember correctly) and I liked it even more based on the fact that it offered more variety in models / units, especially the Pyg Burrowers which I always liked. I do not exactly remember what restrictions this theme had nor do I remember what list I fielded, but it was some kind of Calandra 1 Earthborn a bunch of lights (2 of them were Pyres) Stone 2 units of Fire Eaters 1 unit of Burrowers (sorry, can´t remember if there were some supporting solos or not) Well, reasons that I write this is: I was much more successful with this list than with EE. It just offered more options or maybe it was better suited to my playstyle. Nevertheless, you aksed the following questions: I guess that today a "Children of Dhunia 2.0" might be better than an "EE 2.0" simply due to the fact that you almost NEED some units, similar to what you already wrote in your review. I guess that Fire Eaters are still a good choice though I´m not that deep into that game anymore. I often play what I like and try to make it work. THerefore I´d also include Burrowers. I think that they offer some tactical challenges and to have more tools is better than less tools. Regarding other beasts: 1.) I think that 1-2 Storm Trolls still might be a good idea. First, the damage rolls gained by the Lightning Generator are not caused by an attack which circumvents some defensive rules if I remember correctly. Second, the lightning arcs can reach models normally out of reach for you. While you can´t charge your own models, you can still use your Whelps as lightning rods to reach stealthed solos (which are often low ARM and therefore vulnurable by that pow 10 damage roll). Or think about these squishy and supporting solos / units that are positioned behind some heavies / Gargantuans / Colossals which you can now relatively easily snipe (Coir of Menoth, any squishy repair solo / unit). [Edit: I wanted to write some ideas about Rök and Storm of the North here, but then I noticed that Flaming fists now also offers +2 strenght and that the Northkin Stone attachment doesn´t seem to improve the damage of warbeasts. Therefore: just forget about it!] 3. Old EE allowed Mountain Kings. Just try it! ----------- Sons of Bragg are similarly ressilient as Pyre Trolls (similar wounds to points ratio with similar ARM), don´t need Fury to properly work, are a unit and can be used in the Kriel Company. Same for War Wagon. Though I do not know wether these are good models or not. It´s definetely NOT EE, but you can build some "max out on number of wounds" lists here. ----------- That´s it. I enjoyed reading your review and really appreciate your thoughts. HTG

Hi!
Calandra is an awesome caster that can be played in many MANY ways. Everything seems good with her. The problem is just to choose what to bring THIS time hehe.
Had my second game with the "EE 2.0" list today. Im now fairly sure it is by no means broken. Im also fairly sure it is playable in to a lot of things, and if you like the lights it is worth trying out. Im not worried that it will destroy the meta though, which is good for all involved i think.
I have sooo many things i want to try and way too little time to do it in. Im eying Calandra in PoD with Runeshapers and a Primal Archon... That is sure to be fun!

I think Calandra and All The Pyre Trolls is a pretty viable Brawlmachine list. You can burn Fury to reroll pretty much all of your rolls if you need it, because you have so few models, and ranged seems strong in most of the BM games I've played.

Unfortunately there is FA: 1 on everything in Brawlmachine.

What would be your take on Calandra Brawlmachine? Havent actually played her there yet. I think she loses a bit of power because she cant really bring a stone, and that makes her EBDT way less immortal. I have a list though (with CID week 3 rules) that would be my first place to look:
Calandra EBDT Pyre Brawler
Boomy 2 Whelp
SoB Blythe and Bull Valkyries
Specialists: Fire Eaters Kriel Stone SS Elder

Oh true; I've even been playing BM lately, and somehow I forgot that in the moment. There's still some ground for Calandra and All the Decent Lights I think.

Hi Trollock! I have look into your list and I thought... ok that's playable but nothing above that Then I have read this: "Had my second game with the "EE 2.0" list today. Im now fairly sure it is by no means broken. " And now I am thinking that I don't see something. I am not saying this list is bad, but still don't understand how it should handle high arm lists... Without EBD which you play just one, there is just no power in the list, and the moment you will lose him it will be over most of the time imho. Sure you can bump Pyre Trolls to 15 pow (with Aura & Animus) but now when it cost 2, it's not so effective. Even with that you are looking at mostly 2 attacks. Sure Calandra can help, but I think that you will spend most of the Focus on Pyres so there wouldn't be much left. There is just not enough power here. But maybe that's just me that I need always some heavy hitters
