I think the data just shows that the stone tax is not a tax, its a temptation. Coming from a Minion perspective, I think that's an excellent way of putting it. Prior to the Oblivion Errata, it was always a sore point for me that a Mauler and a War Hog were almost identical in terms of base stats, with approximately the same damage output if the War Hog aggression dials and the Mauler casts Rage on itself (i.e. without any Warlock intervention). The War Hog has both dropped in points and gained the ability to use Aggression Dial for free since then, but both before and after the change I can absolutely attest that you can make Def 12/Arm 18/30 boxes work. Ideally you'd want to have a longer melee threat than your opponent, and models like Boomhowler2 are a boon because positioning can be critical when you're operating under the assumption that your opponent will usually kill whatever they make contact with, but it is certainly possible to play the game with those kinds of defensive stats.

This is very very true. However Boomhowler is a minion and take up the minion slot in 3 out of 4 themes. Meaning need to live without Hermit and Dhunian Archon. But TB still have access to threat extention but really require a focus on it: Axer for Rush (2" on beasts) Wild Winds (+1Spd on Northkin) Ride along (+2" on small&medium model) Hunters Mark (+2" Lanyssa or Kolgrima) Feat (+3spd Doomy2) Quick, TacSupremcy (+2spd or repo(3) from Jarl) and then overtake stuff around the faction, Indirectly Befuddle etc. And I think its a valid point to bring up that we need to focus a bit on our spd4-5 beasts as we basically are use to just taking the hit - with def12 arm18 TB wont survive that

It's especially egregious with the Archon, doubles are more effective, but you can't do that in the infantry themes.

That's not only in Trollbloods. Partisans aren't very often called out and Archons especially were more added to themes for flavor reasons than for actual synergies/balance.

Still feels dumb that Madrak, Ragnor or Calandra can't run double Dhunian in most themes, but Barnabas Lord of Blood can.

Out of curiosity did the initial comparison include Karchev?
Was looking at the stats and they just don't seem quite right.
Cheers, Dave
