You know something is bad when people start saying "well, it's useful in this situation where it dies..."

"where it dies FASTER than the other stuff we never play..." Yeah they really butchered the wasps for no other reason than they couldn't bother to do the job correctly. One more reference for the shelves !

So the final verdict is that PP decided to dump the warbeast pack rules for version 3.5 because it would be a big effort to fix them relative to how often they're used (reasonable). And they winged the rule changes for Blight Wasps, rather than playtesting it, and it shows because as presently constituted the primary use for them is to die faster than other lesser warbeasts (shameful).
I suppose it was a good time to do that, since they knew they were vastly improving the experience of Legion players by giving them multiple functioning themes.

Actually, it is legitimate to use an unit just for it to die. e.g. meatshield concept? Or more specifically, popcorning from MKI?

A meatshield has to be either durable or cheap. Blight wasps cost the same as the more durable harrier. It doesn't work.
These rules weren't winged, it's blindingly obvious to everyone that they have no purpose whatsoever.

Beast mistress field marshal works even while Blight Wasp is outside of control area. There is very little reason to move Beast Mistress from your deployment zone.
