Nice game, but you really can't leave your caster that close to Beast09 without a good screen. Bear in mind Strakhov could have feated and cast Superiority on Beast to extend his threat range by another 6". Seriously always keep your caster behind something agaist Strakhov - especially if he has a good assassin jack in his battlegroup, because Overrun is a thing.

I know...
Vlad and I had a long talk about screening and impulse control after the match. He has solemnly sweared not to wander off towards danger ever again, and making sure that there are plenty of Winter Guards and 'jacks in front of him. This holds, even if his ex (or in this cases exes) are nearby. In particular as they tend to attract big stompy robots, which are not necessarily friendly.
He, on the other hand argued that the guy hiding behind the lines tends to get bored and just others people around without any regards for tactics. I had to give him that one.
We agreed that we will both try and behave better in the future.

I have managed to get a bit of writing done. There are still trouble in Khador. The reason is unclear. Perhaps, it is due to the trouble with Cygnar. Irusk is leading a bunch of Doom Reavers against Vlad and his valiant Winter Guards. Not surprisingly, Winter Guard discipline beast homicidal maniacs. Contrary to tradition, it is Irusk leading the madness and not the discipline. Despite his big and really cool flag he is bested by Vlad. You can read all about it here: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2020/01/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs_30.html. Until next time. For the Motherland!

Igor,
I appreciate your diligence in writing these battle reports. Thank you!
I think 3 units of Doom Reavers does not reach critical mass. He probably should have scrapped one of the archons and found a fourth Reaver unit, at minimum.

Once again Vlad is called into action. The crazy elves, led by Goreshade are at it again. This time, Vlad or the guy behind the lines (more likely) is either distracted or down right silly. What should have been an even match, or perhaps even in Vlad's favour, turns into a demonstration of what happens when "you have no plan TM". You can read all about it here: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2020/02/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs.html. Until next time. For the Motherland!

Yikes! A 31-minute turn? I know! I have no idea what happened. I could blame a black out or something . Unfortunately I think I was just being indecisive and unfocused. But, I think (hope) I learned my lesson. Igor, I appreciate your diligence in writing these battle reports. Thank you! While I'm at it. Thank you. I enjoy it. I think it is a good (albeit laborious) of learning from my mistakes. It also helps if others enjoy the results

Harby has returned with her Faithful Masses. Personally, I think she has developed an unhealthy interest in having her bottom smacked by Vlad (It is unclear how Sorscha feels about this ... arrangement). Nevertheless, Harby arrives with her Judicator and two of the flying Menoth-style Archons. What looks like an even match quickly turns in to a situation of piston to face, when Harby is once again exposed to Marauders under Vlad's feat. It is chaotic times. Not a lot makes sense. This time Vlad is facing Vlad. Clearly we are talking about Imposter-Vlad moving into Khador territory to disrupt the peace. True-Vlad are obviously called upon to clear up any confusion. Unfortunately, True-Vlad has a really bad day. What initially seems like an OK approach turns into a nightmare when he (again) wanders off. This time Behemoth says thank you and demonstrates why Vlad in general should be more careful. Vlad is at it again. I have been playing Vlad and his valiant Winter Guards for more than a year. It is about time to move on. I think he should go out with a bang. I went to a five-game tournament, and I thought it would be fitting to led Vlad play all games as a last stand. This is a slightly different battle report. I am reporting on all five games at once. You can read all about it here: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2020/04/last-stand-of-vlad-and-his-valiant.htmlI will write up a summary of my experiences with the Winter Guard Kommand list soon (I hope). So, you can expect one last instalment. Until next time For the Motherland!

What list will you be playing after Vlad1? Good question. I have managed to finish painting a complete Wolves of Winter list, except for the Void Archons which we currently can't get in Europe. So, that might be it. I have also accidentally acquired most of the stuff I need for a Warrior of the Old Faith. So, perhaps those two in combination - I just need to paint the WotOF list

Thanks for yet another great write-up!
Any reason for such a permanent goodbye versus adding a second list and playing what would be the better matchup?
How often do you find yourself using combo smite in your games with Marauders?
I have to disagree with some things you said about Infernals. And yes, i play Infernals but only since recently, after just playing Khador for years. Im racking up losses like a champ. If you get rushed early enough, you cant come back into the game, which Zaat tries to prevent by feating on turn 2 or ideally 3. Your list has enough accuracy to not overly worry although the Umbrals are annoying for the shots that matter (e.g. field gun knock downs)...but most folks dont play them anymore.
I feel that once the opponent knows to not give you time to go into late-game or doesnt give you the opportunity to stall the game, as an Infernals player you are already on the backfoot.
I did just play my first two games with Agathon and assassinating from 24" away from multiple angles on flying models seem like a real good time...for Agathon.

Also, what did you think of the Adjunct? I believe that was the latest change?
Im really keen on fielding this army again. The only big difference is that i dont have or own two Kapitans and run Alexia2 instead. Did you get a lot of value out of the AOE manipulation?

Thanks for yet another great write-up! Any reason for such a permanent goodbye versus adding a second list and playing what would be the better matchup? Thank you. I don't think it is a permanent goodbye. The list will definitely be a staple list in my arsenal. I think I am not sufficiently familiar with it to bring it when I need it. I just want to focus more on some other liste to also learn them. How often do you find yourself using combo smite in your games with Marauders? Actually, less than I expected. It is one of those thing that are absolutely brilliant to have in the toolbox. Because when you need it, you really need it. It seems to be used most often when I can't or won't charge all three 'jacks, in particular under feat. Here a well placed knockdown can really help. In particular if there are still rockets left. I did just play my first two games with Agathon and assassinating from 24" away from multiple angles on flying models seem like a real good time...for Agathon. You know a generalisation will always just be an average I also know nice Infernal players. Also, what did you think of the Adjunct? I believe that was the latest change? I prefer him over the Mortar. I simply don't think the Mortar really pays off. The Adjunct is an auto-include right now; despite Vlad not being able to use Arcane Assist. Spiritual Conduit really helps Vlad when casting Boundless Charge. Guidance is handy, even though I haven't used it too often. Mostly on a Field Gun, that really needs to knock something down (mostly as an Eiryss-killer). He is often passive in the first half of the game (except when assisting in Eiryss-killing or similar). Most often he will also serve as a flag scorer or contester as the game progresses. Im really keen on fielding this army again. The only big difference is that i dont have or own two Kapitans and run Alexia2 instead. Did you get a lot of value out of the AOE manipulation? You should put two Kapitans on your wishlist They serve two purposes really well. They are brilliant cheap flag scorers or contester; and the actually help the carriages a lot. I have killed stuff by being able to manipulate the AOEs. Not enough to build a plan around it though. How is Alexia2 working out for you? On paper she looks cool. But she is on a medium base. Doesn't she die fast?
