After running Irusk2 in Winter Guard Kommand for some time (the list of reports are here), I have decided to change into a new list where Vlad1 has the privilege of using two Gun Carriages. I have actually been playing it for some time, but I refuse to report on it until I actually manage to paint the whole army. This is now done I have managed to get quite a few matches using this list, and plan to get many more. Instead of making a new thread every time I do a battle report, I have decided to make just one thread and add battle reports as I get round to writing them up. The current version of the Vlad1 list can be found here: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2019/07/winter-guard-kommand-under-vladimir.html. Also, a summary and discussion on WGK played almost exclusively for more than a year can be found here: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2020/05/a-year-of-playing-winter-guard-kommand.htmlA discussion of the most recent, post Quality of Life Update list can now be fund here: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2022/01/winter-guard-kommand-under-vlad1-post.html. Battle Reports: - Against Goreshade4 and the crazy elves: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2019/07/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs.html. Vlad manage to pull of a beautiful assassination.
- Against Gearhart1 and the Crucible Guards: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2019/08/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs.html. Fast and brutal. Just as Vlad likes it.
- Against Harbinger and the fanatics: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2019/10/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs.html. Vlad really rules the battle field, until Harbinger pulls the Hail Mary of this century.
- Against Harbinger once more: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2019/11/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs.html. Vlad demonstrates exactly how far Marauders can move, and why you don't want to be on the receiving end of one, or two, or three.
- Against Butcher3: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2019/11/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs_18.html. Vlad shows how a Gun Carriage can carry out sneaky assassinations.
- Against Orion1: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2019/12/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs.html. Among the many highlights are Jozef killing a colossal.
- Against Siege1: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2019/12/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs_8.html. Siege is outplayed and looses on scenario.
- Against Sloan1: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2019/12/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs_22.html. Sloan is slowly and steadily being forced to loose on scenario.
- Against Strakhov1: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2020/01/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs_26.html. Vlad! Don't move!
- Against Irusk2: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2020/01/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs_30.html. Irusk's mad Doom Reavers is no match to Vlad's valiant Winter Guards.
- Against Goreshade4: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2020/02/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs.html. The disastrous consequences of "you have no planTM".
- Against Harbinger: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2020/02/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs_15.html. Harby seems to enjoy the experience of "piston to face".
- Against Vlad1!: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2020/02/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs_28.html. This should be well know by now: Vlad! Don't move!
- Vlad goes to a five-game tournament as his last stand: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2020/04/last-stand-of-vlad-and-his-valiant.html
- Vlad is back post quality of life update: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2022/01/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs.html.
More battle reports to follow.
Until next time.
For the Motherland!

I've actually been playing Vlad 1 with two Gun Carriages for a few months now and have really enjoyed it. I think the list will be generally improved when Oblivion drops because it will enable me to take Sorscha 0 or Joe as free choice, which should free things up a bit, as points often feel quite tight to fit in everything.

Nicely done! And good to remember Blood Boon, which it is so easy to forget, given we often try to keep Vlad1 fairly far back.
I think the Gun Carriages, combined with Vlad1's feat, really add some valuable mobility to a theme that can otherwise be fairly clumped and predictable (it's also why I don't think Vlad1 + all the rockets is his strongest build). You exploited that greater flexibility here.

Nicely done, and nice report. Yeah Tridents are at a kind of tipping point on the power curve; P13 isn't much threat to ARM20 multiwound, but the sheer number of shots means it can propel itself into extremely dangerous territory with a small buff/debuff. Rolling max shots and having boosts also helps, of course.
Well done on spotting the assassination, and well executed too.
Your opponent might well get another Trident; they're the single best thing in Ret, and they're in every theme except the mage hunter one. But they'll have to drop an entire unit or almost all their support to fit it in, so it's a very all-or-nothing play. Probably more something you'll see with a shooting based caster like Ossyan

I'm still thinking about any significant changes due to Oblivion. So far I have just opted for the extra Kapitan. Always love your reports! And the army looks good painted too! Thank you. I agree. All Rockets and no fun tends to be a bit predictable. I think I am going to enjoy the double Carriage a lot. There are some more reports coming up. I just need to write them properly. I have to admit I was rather happy about my self at that point Your opponent might well get another Trident; they're the single best thing in Ret, and they're in every theme except the mage hunter one. Probably more something you'll see with a shooting based caster like Ossyan I hope that I don't see too many. I might opt for my AC list the next time I spot them. Just to see how a lot of Man-O-Wars would deal with it, or vice versa.

Im going to be running this: Vladimir Tzepesci, The Dark Prince - WJ: +28 - Greylord Adjunct - PC: 0 - Victor - PC: 34 (Battlegroup Points Used: 28) Winter Guard Gun Carriage - PC: 17 Winter Guard Gun Carriage - PC: 17 Kovnik Jozef Grigorovich - PC: 0 Alexia, Mistress of the Witchfire - PC: 7 - Thrall Warrior Winter Guard Artillery Kapitan - PC: 0 Winter Guard Artillery Kapitan - PC: 0 Winter Guard Rifle Corps - Leader & 5 Grunts: 8 - Winter Guard Rocketeer - PC: 2 - Winter Guard Rocketeer - PC: 2 - Winter Guard Rocketeer - PC: 2 Winter Guard Rifle Corps - Leader & 5 Grunts: 8 - Winter Guard Rocketeer - PC: 2 - Winter Guard Rocketeer - PC: 2 - Winter Guard Rocketeer - PC: 2 While building lists and playing a grand total of two games I found that including S0 and the jack tax takes too many points away from stuff i really want, especially in a double carriage list. However, running Vlad with three jacks just seems too much while maximizing damage output with S&P. Yeah yeah...poor me...i cant have it all...what if i dont need S0 because I only have one much larger jack, one that also threats 1" farther and hits much harder too. That and i'll clock myself less

Did Mosby use The Good Stuff during his last turn? If not, the Gun Carriage should have eaten them alive.

Why did he leave Vulcan within a Marauder's threat range?
He could have easily used Gearheart's shadowbind gun to keep one GC out of the game the whole time.
Charging Halbs with 4+ tough is a tricky situation and if he had timed it better he wouldnt have lost so many models.
...just some things that seemed odd to me. It seemed he had a decent feat turn amd then gave it away.

It seemed he had a decent feat turn amd then gave it away. From the pictures, some of this is probably positioning. The Marauders were all pretty close together. The CG player wanted/needed to use the Vulcan's guns on feat turn. If that included the sprays, it would have meant moving the Vulcan close enough to be caught by a Vlad1 feat charge. The CG player does seem to have moved warrior models up to screen, suggesting the risk had been spotted (that may also explain the losing models point - they Halberdiers needed to be there to screen the GC).
The Gearheart point might be positioning and resources. I imagine Deceleration is being cast and Hotshot upkept. The Vlad1 list has quite a bit of shooting, such that a player might want to keep some Focus around for overboosting and so not cast/upkeep Snipe on Gearheart. That might well be a mistake in the match-up, but it's understandable.
Congrats on the win; definitely a change of pace from the Irusk2 list!

Tough and no knockdown really make for a sad Gun Carriage. Why did he leave Vulcan within a Marauder's threat range? Thank you. Yes, it is a nice change of pace and result from the many many losses with the Irusk2 liste I do, however have to admit that I don't think the CG player had his best day. I think he will get back at me at some point. He did try to screen the Vulcan after it sprayed like crazy. Even though the Halberdiers were tough and immune to knockdown, there is a lot of shooting from the Winter Guards to clean up a charge route for the last Marauder. I'm still happy about the tripple Marauder. Backups to backups are nice. If he had manage to remove all three (or I just had two), the game would have been completely different. Thanks.

The Harbinger is back in Khador territory along with her pet Judicator. Vlad is dispatched to deal with her. The Winter Guards under Vlad's command really do a good job against Harbinger. Unfortunately, she pulls out the most impressive Hail Mary victory I have ever seen. You can read all about it here: greylordarchives.blogspot.com/2019/10/vladimir-tzepesci-dark-prince-vlad1-vs.htmlUntil next time. For the Motherland!

Thanks for the report. One of those games which will probably stick with you just due to how it ended.
