What's your thoughts? Any chance RS sees play at 8 pts. Facebook group is screaming bloody murder but wanted to get some other opinions.

Currently i have a list where i have one unit of RS. I run this quite a lot as its a fairly low model count, high armour, tough list given even more durability by Ragnors simple yet powerful feat.
Trollbloods Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] The Power of Dhunia
[Ragnor 1] Ragnor Skysplitter, the Runemaster [+30] - Dire Troll Mauler [15] - Earthborn Dire Troll [14] - Earthborn Dire Troll [14] - Glacier King [35] - Trollkin Runebearer [0(5)] Janissa Stonetide [0(4)] Troll Whelps [0(4)] Dhunian Knot [6] Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (max) [9] - Stone Scribe Elder [3] Trollkin Runeshapers [9]
The RS are in the list really for one simple purpose, to contest and hold zones. Any rockhammers or tremblers etc they can get off area always welcome. But they get into a zone, dig in and hold it while the rest of the army kills things. Are they overpriced? i think they probably are but it doesn't justify the sort of reactions that are coming out online. Play lists and find the tech, then complain.
TBH, im fairly amused by the reaction to the teased themes. People need to calm the Firetruck down and go outside for a bit tbh.

I don't see much reason to play PoD post-changes except to run RS with archon. The lack of unit and solos compared to other themes hurts it. Willing to give it a shot if I owned more than 2 RS units.

Nth will change for that theme force. 8 pts RS are nice, free Dhunia Knot too, but both of these things are not what that list needs. Needs sth fast to have at least some scenario play, rework of half of the lights and at least one have. Buffs are always nice, but beast theme to work in these meta times and SR2019 cannot work on speed 5 units and beasts. But did get what I did expected, still won't play it, have a good one folks who are going to try The pp employ that was on the podcast said that this dynamic update is not the one that we should look in for big changes - they simply dont have time to test whole game at once. I shall look forward to the future.

To be honest my opinion is, the price tag don't make a difference. For me I can't see a reason I need three dudes with 12/15 stat line that disappear if anything walks past it. The spoilers to me haven't made much of a difference and I do not believe 3 soon to be released models (boomy2,PygTank & archon) change the faction issues. Does that justify crying out loud on FB nah really, and all in all I don't feel TB have become worse than they were. A bit more flexible in casual games but otherwise same same. Knowing and accepting that TB is a bit down on the tournament scene actually made me bring them to the last 2 mini tournaments with the mindset "its has to be fun to play the list" and it has been.
So does PoD and RS change trolls nope don't think so, but my mindset has. TBs are the same there were before oblivion and will most likely stay that way for along time to come.

It continues to be The Theme I Do Not Play. But I have three others, so I just don't even care enough to scream about it's inadequacies. I hate the RS models anyways.

Have they at least improved the theme benefits? FA: U runeshapers aren't cutting it.

Benefits stayed the same, only freebies were slightly changed.

I think it's worth trying out. I definitely want to try a list with 2-3 units with a solid beast package behind them. While the stats aren't that great on their own, hoping when their is more than +3 dudes dug-in under the stone, it becomes a harder nut to crack then opponents would expect.
We'll see

So. Why do people care about PoD anyways? The infantry options have always been bad and you can now run a beast brick anywhere you like. Is there some particular appeal to y'all? I've always just looked at it and been, "nah". But I fully acknowledge that could just be a play-style/aesthetic/preference thing.

The only real way to test that theory is to put them on the table and see, but on paper they look really strong if surround them with troops. The only real troops you can take them with are runeshapers, which also lost a point.
It's at least worth testing.

Is there anyway this is even remotely decent compared to the other themes?' sort of thing for me, personally. My gut says 'no', but can't be sure without giving it a go.

I think it's more that we've got some great casters that if you look at in a vacuum, you think would be great with a beast brick. All the Doomies, Ragnar & Borka2 immediately come to mind. Problem is that when you start looking at Scenarios, you start to realize how tight your list has to play. Stone and Animus reliance make it hard to spread. This had been a big liability in my early MkIII experience. I still feel the majority of troll models are over costed, so that doesn't help. If a couple units of RS are viable, this will go along way to helping PoD get back into the scenario game.

i will never encourage PP by purchasing that model, so maybe that's our disconnect.
