The rework of the theme allows all casters and minion beasts! Unlimited number if minions. Kept the sac pawn. Req points can be used for krea, agonizer, 2 task masters, or other solo. Can take turtle. Can't take nacho Supremes guardian. Chiron allowed in theme. Pain givers and nihilators and mortitheurges. Marketh is in, and zadeesh 1.
Totally opens up our options here. Xerxes 2 in particular is going to be amazing.

Best minion theme. I can basically start Skorne now with a skorne warlock and some paingivers.
I'm waiting for some Zaadesh+counter charging swamp horrors with pull shenanigans.

To clarify, Paingivers keep Sac Pawn; the newly-allowed warlocks don't pick it up. Still an amazing theme.

Good catch! Yes, just the paingivers. It's so good though, x2 with roadhogs. 2 speed, plus the dial, plus rush. 14 inch charge. 1 inch weapon or the assault spray.

Will this replace Imperial Warhost? Our current "beast theme", with Molik Karn and Hyper Aggressive + 2" deployment zone theme benefits. This new DoA theme seems better from what it was, but would be a huge downgrade for Imperial Warhost.
Hoping we'll see both, not condensed.

This new DoA theme seems better from what it was, but would be a huge downgrade for Imperial Warhost. Hoping we'll see both, not condensed. Replaces IWH entirely. From an IWH perspective, it loses Hyper Aggressive and 2" deployment and access to the SG. In return, it gains sac pawn and Minions access. It retains is previous free choices as well as gains the ones from DoA. It's mostly better now. Simply access to units makes a huge difference, and Bloodrunners are fantastic troops. Unlimited Minion access gives it lots of options too, and Taskmasters make Minions decent. It's a "big deal" if your IWH list used SGs. Playing without Hyper Aggressive is fine though. Also using Hyper Aggressive with a shield guarding Tibbers was kind of mean...

Thank you for the clarification (I'm trying to keep up with the news : )
Ironic to be able to take Character Minion beasts but not own Skorne character beasts . . . in Skorne's own beast theme! Odd to lose Molik Karn again. Seems like the Exalted CID put him in a few themes with much approval, and now "the beast theme" drops him again. (Does Bonded: Makeda come into play at all?)
I don't own any minions so am, personally, losing out a bit. I'll take everyone's word for the benefits though. Maybe I'll get a boost from the other theme updates.

Not aware of any character minion beasts that aren't on a lesser warlock. Yes, bonded beasts (and 'jacks) can always be taken by their warlock (warcaster) regardless of theme restrictions. All themes lost +2" deployment (except Rhulic?). I doubt we'll see Hyper-Aggressive as a theme benefit anymore either (maybe Cephalyx?).
