Either a meta shifting change or sloppy editing. In the leaked Convergence theme force shield guard lost the "non-spray" modifier. Now can be used against all ranged attacks.
Hmmmm.....I see a thousand tears of from all those who spent hundreds on their victors and raillesses ;-)

It will be the last nail in the shooting coffin. Sprays are the only thing ensuring that shooting builds work. They are way too many shield guards in the game, and some themes hand them out like candy.

They are way too many shield guards in the game, and some themes hand them out like candy. That is hyperbole. Sprays are, and have been, ridiculously dangerous for a very long time. The only things that stopped them were total and complete LOS blocking (which stops just about everything, so...) or the mild DEF bump from elevation. This just makes those grueling all-sprays “gun you down and you can’t stop it” encounters less annoying. Typical list bring how many shield guards? Two? Three? Does it matter that much?

On the one hand, this would make sense as a "nerf" to sprays when Elevation (the only defense against sprays) is being removed. On the other, there's a type in "Mecenary" and for some reason it mentions Mercenaries specifically in the available models and then again the benefits. There's also only 1 benefit.
I'm thinking this might have been an early draft that's not been properly proof read?

Interesting. Can a single model be directly hit twice in the same attack? Eg Shield Guard model is hit directly by a spray AND takes/accepts the direct hit on a different model also hit by that same spray?" Mountain King will be sad his DEF-reducing spray tech will be easily thwarted. Better reduce his points a lot!

Not to mention that 2-3 is enough to take Caster kill option off the table but let him have his fanboy moment .

The vast preponderance of evidence suggests that a handful of Shield Guards is the norm... Were people dropping their shooting list into Harbinger anyway, and now that’s going to change because the sprays against Shield Guards work a little differently...?

Since they can't be shield guarded, and cause a large number of potential casualties, it's actually pretty decent into Harbinger. I do think we need a meta answer against her, but on the other hand, I don't see why spray assassinations should be the only one that is literally almost unstoppable.

Confirmed by Hungerford this morning on Facebook. It was a typo, there is no change to Shield Guard.
