Sure, but it's likely you can't even sacrifice them for 1 channel because they are so slow... Also, large numbers of them should be really random to use because of prowl instead of stealth. Good terrain, sure... bad terrain and you're looking at a 5 DEF rocket/mortar/whatever shot to kill them if they would be relevant.
Id MUCH rather have 1-2 units of stones as a free option instead of 3 groves. Thats a pretty worthless free take.
That's quite a bold statement considering you're not even mentioning any casters.
Morv 1 would love some free groves. So would Una. Most lists have at most 4 solos in anyway so having an option that gives you 3 flag sitters + arcnodes + anti tough is actually really good?
Im far happier spending 2pts on a tree if I feel I need it. Plus Morvanha has Brennos too, so doesnt really need a tree too hard, let alone 3. But all my Call lists do operate pretty heavily on the premise of stones. Its gonna kinda suck redoing everything. But Im pretty sure 3 groves is a rarely used option.
Love, sex, pain, confusion, suffering You're there crying, I feel not a thing Drilling my way deeper in your head Sinking, draining, drowning, bleeding, dead
I've always found Brennos to be a wet revolver when it comes to damage. The fact you have to use him in a way to make use of his arcnode means that more often than not, you're putting him in a position where he dies after he charges. Or he doesn't kill the thing he charges (a thing determined by your opponent) and is engaged meaning he's now not an arc-node anymore. Plus at spd 5 he's walking as fast as a gallows. Yes you can run if you like but that's a heavy running just so you can cast a spell and then kill it with another 15 pts of your force. He dies too easily for a heavy too. Gallows is just a smarter bet with regards to point to point damage considering they're free and you can use a stalker to kill the thing you've just mortalitied. Putting you at having only activated 17 pts, your caster and a free solo to kill the thing instead of a 15 pt Brennos followed by a something else in the region of pt cost and your caster...
Offensively, disposable gallows should be able to be in a spot where they can get their spells off. They do have AD and with the range of your offensive spells at 10 they'll be a good spot... Never personally had a problem with losing them. 15 inches of threat on a spell is quite hard to avoid with proper placement. Defensively (IE moving upkeeps about from the backfield) they're pretty solid too. I know I like una 2 at the moment and she will chuck mirage and hand of fate around. They allow her to not get killed after casting her stuff due to having to walk forward.
Hope I'm not ranting too much but do you see my point?
kjata, that is correct. I thought that seemed odd at first, but it checks out. They dropped the free upkeeps on first turn from the old theme. This is a really puzzling theme, it's almost as if no thought was given to it a all.
I guess they noted that no changes are coming immediately for Mist riders, but that tweaks are in the works. I also read that druids are going down to 10 points per unit from 12 points, which seems completely inconsequential to me. Druids need a rework IMO, as it is they are a pretty terrible unit even at 10 points.
Yes, you can do something cute in secret masters where you sac pawn shooting at druids to minions to allow your druids to shoot their magic while being buffed by a woldwrath, but all that effort hardly seems worth the results you get.
***Edit: It occurs to me that the new "secondary" theme benefit would seem to be the fact that you can take "unlimited" minion units / solos, which with the new requisition system is potentially cool. Although that coolness mostly goes out the window for me when I remember you can't use Wurwood in secret masters.
