Remember that in addition to these changes Oblivion is eliminating point quotas for themes. I have a prospective Helga combined arms list I want to try. I feel like Carver could be worth exploring too.
I always liked playing midas. These changes dont fix all of his problems but it is a slight buff to him. I still wait for the day pigs finally get their CiD though.

Adding a cheap and cheerful 10 man unit to WWFF would solidify Midas' place now. A few beasts and Triple Valkyries is good but it just needs those basic infantry to form the list around.

Honestly, I think I'd rather see a highly mobile unit like cavalry or something in Thornfall. My problem with running Midas hasn't been that he has to choose between big infantry units in Thornfall and spell support in WWFF, I've usually found the spell support to be typically unnecessary given how hard pig infantry hits as a baseline. My real issue is that without speed buffs his army has short, linear threat ranges and struggles to have any kind of scenario presence.
The Trenches help with the scenario side of things, since I won't feel as pressured to have Brigands advance and Dig In when going second into armies with a decent shooting presence, but odds are I'll still find myself just not particularly enjoying his playstyle.

Cavalry would be excellent for pigs, but I feel like if they were normal horses they would just eat them. Pigs riding pigs seems...odd? Or maybe just make more efaarit models. Regardless they need some way of covering more ground. I always thought of the flaming pigs used by (whatever ancient army used them, I can't remember) and how neat it would be to have them a part of thornfall.

Probably a few options for pig cavalry. I actually don't hate the idea of pigs riding pigs (I've got the mental image of a small base cavalry unit of Farrow riding Razor Boars like it's a rodeo), or there's the option for centaurish Sturm and Drang-like creations through Arkadius. Or just have a unit of horse-sized boars with no riders at all, with tusk attacks and impact attacks, and maybe a mechanikal augmentation or two.

Basic infantry have been a glaring hole in the minion lineup forever. I'd like cavalry too, they would run well with Midas. I would hope for a non-frankenpig type of unit.

I would just note that this hypothetical cavalry unit would be bloody amazing on Helga's feat turn... and a bit of clock nightmare.
1st cavalry model makes its move and triggers an impact attack. Resolve all slams from the impact attack. Note that the wording of helga's feat adds strength back on to the pow of the slam damage roll of the mount, so efaarit impacts on her feat turn are pow15. Resolve the rest of model 1's movement.
Repeat those steps for cavalry models 2-5.
Cavalry model 1 gets to make its charge attack with boosted hit, boosted damage, and maybe an additional die from the slam.
Resolve the rest of the charge attacks for cavalry models 2-5.
Reposition cav model 1, potentially using its large base size as a slam-damage-backstops/gang fighter nodes for other parts of your army. Repeat for models 2-5.

While that would probably be true for farrow cavalry, I dont think the efaarit scout can charge as it doesnt have a melee weapon other than the mount.

I always thought the idea of farrow motorcycle cav would be incredible, like a unit of mini-meat threshers with a razor boar powering the front wheel.

While that would probably be true for farrow cavalry, I dont think the efaarit scout can charge as it doesnt have a melee weapon other than the mount. I've looked into that interaction. It's really dumb. The efaarit scout CAN charge. But he can never make a charge attack, just impact attacks. He gets there, then he just looks at the target. It's an absurd interaction, I wish he just got a P+S 7 poke attack to make sense. Farrow on motorcycles would be amazing (steampunk style) but I always assumed that was beyond the tech level... If Helga2 is getting one though it might be on the cards. I would think something of a mixed cavalry type like raptors or steelhead cavalry, with melee and ranged presence.

I figured it out. Bicycles. Pigs on bicycles. And the tech exist in the Thresher - pigs...on big bikes...with small pigs as the drive train. <"Faster I said!!">

Also don't the threnches with Helga create a serious "no go" zone when interacting with the Helga and the River Raiders? Now you have Def 18 Raiders with some immunity to blasts (outside the trench). Threat of 12 to start slamming shit back into your Beasts who don't have to dail up any more. Feels....well...pretty good.
