Ah, yeah, if I do have one spot of bad news it's that a pig CID (and thus new releases for them) is nowhere in sight. Hence the dynamic update to brush them up a tad.

Sadly it feels this way for WM in general. Oblivion takes up this year going into next. Riot Quest and Mon-Poc each have a tonne of releases then their new game comes out. I would be surprised if there was another standard WM release in the next year. Hopefully I am wrong though.

To be fair, ~30 Riot Quest models and the Oblivion releases feels like close to a year's worth of Warmachine stuff anyway. The Riot Quest aesthetic may be a little off, but I'm real keen for some of the models coming out of it just on a mechanical level.
...but I also play pigs. Through Mark III I've become used to feeling lucky to get just one model in a year.

Don't forget the archons and Hermit are also coming with Oblivion. I know it's not actual pig-stuff, but they should still help open up farrow list building

Yeah I hear you. I was just hoping at some point to see a Blindwater style release for Pigs. Things to make them a bit more compelling. Hell, if they would just allow the soul slave and crock pot in Thornfall I would be happy with no real update haha.

Don't forget the archons and Hermit are also coming with Oblivion. I know it's not actual pig-stuff, but they should still help open up farrow list building With the exception of the Dhunian Archon, they're all solely for WWFF where list building is already reasonably flexible (inasmuch as a Warbeast theme can be for a sub-faction with two heavies, three lights, and a lesser to choose from). Still, yeah, I'm pretty keen. I already had planned to add the Hermit and two Void Archons to my Arkadius list in place of Mire and the Wrastler, and the point drops mean I can probably slot Hutchuck in there too. It'd take a miraculous confluence of events to get all of this in place, but that list could toss out a cool +12 damage swing if it had to. It'd be +13 if I swapped my Gun Boars for Mire and a Wrastler again, but that's probably excessive. +12 is enough to get a Gorax to the point where it's reasonably threatening to Colossals. I'll be satisfied with that

I'll be satisfied with that Fair enough, I did forget about the theme restrictions for the Archons. But yeah, just them not interfering with free solos in WWFF is already a pretty great buff. I can't wait to try the Void Archon and/or Hermit in a couple of lists that were previously a bit too pillow-fisted.

Well, WWFF went from typically granting 4 free solos to 3, but yeah it is nice to no longer worry about hitting specific quotas. The point drop on pig beasts neatly cancels that the lost solo though.

On the Blindwater side ... if that happens of course Not that I distrust you One of the interesting things that Hungerford on stream said is that he considers Midas to be a dark horse caster. The change to the Theme Benefits should help him, wondering what else will work well

What all Archons are going to be relevant to Minions? Void, Dhunian, Primal all allowed in WWFF; Dhunian allowed in Thornfall and Primal allowed in Blindwater?

Yeah, Void in WWFF, Primal in WWFF and Blindwater, Dhunian in WWFF and Thornfall.
I've played Midas competitively plenty of times. He solves for anyone relying on defensive stats comfortably, so long as they can be forced into his linear threat ranges. With Thornfall granting more protection for his forces than ever (free Dhunian Archons, trench templates, Rise) he'll be better at it than ever... I've just found him pretty boring to play ever since Mark 3 cost him his army of magic snipers.

Me too I was chatting at Lock and Load about them, and about the loss of Midas's Tier 4 theme benefit. Giving all Bone Grinders an animus to use and giving an additional Warbeast for his Feat was just a gorgeous bit of game design. I'm still sad it didn't carry forward in some respect as an element of Midas's kit. Even if Bone Grinders had to lose access to dead Warbeasts' animii, Midas could have gained that effect and, I dunno, started off with a dead 'beast in his bag as just a core part of his kit and I don't think it'd be too bad.

Midas just lacks the models he wants all in one place. Do we know what the second benefit is if commandos have native ambush? Rise is pretty poor so hopefully it's something decent.

I think the rumor was trench templates.
