Disclaimer: I have never played with Infernal Horrors. The only game time I had with Infernals was an HoD CID game with Malakov.
Looking at, what we now know are the final rules for, Infernal Horrors I can't help but feel...unimpressed? I like that each has a variety of special rules and that, at least theoretically, you can summon one or the other based on the unique circumstances. However, as others have already said, you will likely just end up summoning heavies because of the economics behind it (e.g. for one more essence than a Lamenter you can summon a Tormentor so you're essentially getting 12 points for your sacced marked soul instead of 7, it has more durability, etc.).
I really like the Desolator. I feel he will be a key heavy in every DL list. His sprays are good, he can do some work himself and his place effect is cute.
The Tormenter is pretty solid as well. 6 POW 19s (assuming you used the Desolator) is amazing (take that Juggernaut!), combined with the free charge.
The Foreboder will see use because arc nodes are good...
Aaaaaand that is where my excitement kind of ends. Like I said before, I think the Lamenter and the Shrieker both have good special rules (-2 to attack rolls within 4" and no orders/spells within 5" respectively) but I just foresee too many situation where the opponent is like "yeah that is annoying so let me kill that squishy monster first and get on with my turn". Yes, you just messed with your opponent's activations a little sure...If I'm not taking a Lamenter for that effect, I'd rather reach for a heavy for one more essence because he aint that good otherwise (Dodge and some crit effect). I think I have to see the Shrieker's Admonisher effect in practice to appreciate it but my first reaction is 'meh'.
Lastly, the Soul Stalker. I look at his point cost, the POW on his weapons and his defensive stats and just go like "wut?". I understand that Soul Claiming could be a key feature for some Masters but damn...ok, ok, stealth on a "heavy"...uhhhh...
Now that I've shared my purely theoretical view on Infernal Horrors, what is your opinion?
