So I was out of the game for quite a while (end of MK2) and Sevy2 was always a caster I really liked. At the time, he was mediocre, but my playgroup fell apart not long after MK3 launched and I was getting excited about his changes and buffs. Now I want to begin playing again and try the awesome as Urcaen gunline caster, but I'm kind of stuck on what Theme to give him. I have an idea of where I want to take the list (I have a Judicator and most of the important support pieces) but I'm worried he's too focus strapped for CM. I think he'd like FM too, but I'd need to warm up my credit card since I don't have many of the models that make that theme good. I was thinking of pairing him with Kreoss3 or ToM running EI armor skew(honestly EI looks good with any caster, but I don't want to double up the themes for tourneys). All help appreicated.

Sevy2's a tough 'caster in that he prefers a larger battlegroup than is found outside of any theme but CM, but has to give up free points for it. His Field Marshal is very strong when leveraged appropriately, so you want to be able to do so without hamstringing your army.
I've been playing him for years, with consistency since MkIII hit. I've had success, but it's always challenging. His two best themes are FM and CM, followed distantly by EI and Guardians (he really doesn't do anything for any of them). Both themes give you easy access to Idrians, who are his best unit (excellent synergy with Arcane Ward). Honestly, both are good calls--pick your poison.
If playing FM: --Idrians, Champions and Vilmon, Covenant, two squads of Initiates as free, consider Judy, Blessing, and another heavy (I like the Sanctifier). Play from there. He doesn't need the Hierophant and Monks are either awesome or liabilities depending on your meta.
Pros: Fixes one of Sevy2's biggest weaknesses (he doesn't hit terribly hard in melee compared to the rest of the faction). Gets a wall to hide behind. Strong theme in general that helps defend him while he does what he does (craps on infantry + control)
Cons: Harby is almost straight up better in FM as she plays a similar damage denial game (warriors instead of warjacks), similar control game (both have Rebuke; her Feat vs. Sevy2's Feat and Ashes to Ashes), yet doesn't have the scenario presence and threat range issues Sevy2 can present with. Also, in order to properly leverage Sevy2's strengths, you are playing down on free points--because otherwise you really should be playing another 'caster.
If playing CM: --Idrians don't constrain free points, so can be taken happily. Rhoven is surprisingly useful, since Eyeless Sight helps deal with the crud Awareness does not (less useful with new objective coming out). Take an anchor (Judy), Blessing, a solid mix of skirmishing lights and heavies (again, Sanctifier is great; Repenters are also good; and I like Redeemers), a couple of units to fill out, and then for free cards look to the Covenant and Exemplar Warders (dudes are awesome). Consider Tristan + a Redeemer if you'd like. Also consider Anastacia di Bray as a Merc solo (deals with far flag solos better than anything in-faction). A Revenger + Blessing is a fun combo as well, as it allows Sevy2 to guard either flank and makes him less predictable. Squeeze in Vassals if you can (good synergy with Field Marshal and Enliven; provides Empower to keep Field Marshal relevant). Also, he is probably the only 'caster at this point I'd consider a Revelator with.
Pros: Leverages Sevy2's strengths as best as possible. Provides a solid mass of Warjacks that he can run well and gives him the opportunity to be a superstar. Gives you an anchor brick to FM that plays well into opposing gunlines (very well).
Cons: The only Warcaster in-faction that cannot get Eye of Menoth in CM. Scenario issues (common to CM) that need to be played around.
