Latest from todays PP dev.chat on twitch. CID will take a break after the next one ( steamroller 2019). Unclear for how long. The dev. will focus more on monsterapoc. and riot quest I welcome a break in the CID cycles. It seems like a smart move by PP to go "on a break" over the summer as this is when most of the big convention and cons are. Allows them to focus on trade shows, game promotion, hobby promotion etc before returning to CIDs later in the year. I hope when they do come back they continue to look at the remainder of the legacy models and themes that have not yet been addressed. I would love to see Kriel Company and some of the light Troll beasts get some love.

That Pyg Tank solo is definitely going to be in KrielCo; Hungie referred to Troll and Minion players running 5 or 6 of the things?

I have a sneaking suspicion that CID will go on a break, and it won't come back. I think as an aggregate CID has done far more damage to the game than it has good. I would rather have models that hit and are bat shit crazy that can be fixed later than the perceived damage that an ever-changing rule set with an unfinished game has brought.
If CID goes away, I can likely use that as a leverage point to get some of my old players interested in playing again. I think this is some of the best news that could be given and hope against hope that it will stay gone.
IRT someone above: I don't think PP is going to go back and hit more legacy models, besides some that are just really important to a new theme that is coming out.
Just my take on it.

This runs pretty counter to what was said in the dev talk (around the 7 minute mark): A "fairly significant" break to "let the meta normalize or stabilize, let there not be a constant rotation of new changes all the time, and then we'll jump right back into it" They'll be busy during the Lock and Load (late june) to GenCon time (mid august) with Riotquest releasing in that time, so I'd guess that means until early fall? Regarding Legacy Models, basically the same answer: "We'll get to them in time, it's time for a little break, it's time to let things normalize, let the meta settle a little bit, then we'll be jumping back into it"

I kinda hope it stays away too..
The powercreep is absurd to me and there are wayy too many factions now. A full rotation takes several years which is a long *** time to wait for your favorite faction to get the new toys.
Bring back mk2 release schedule, I liked that. New minis every 1/1,5 years. They tried to correct that with the "everyone gets something each december" release but that plan totally crashed after just 1 season.
Plus they get rid of all the salt on the forums which is exactly why they closed down the PP forums in the first place and why Pagani couldn't handle it anymore (haha jk, I obviously have no idea why:D)
In any case I hope they take a long hard look at the process of all their stuff and game as a whole. Make PP great again!

Make PP great again! The salt was not the reason. It comes down to money. Privateer potentially was exposed to liability for content posted on their forums. I’m sure the salt didn’t help...but from what I observed, banning about ten posters would have removed about 80% of the salt from the old forums. (Heck, I’ve blocked like a dozen people on here so far, and it’s night-and-day difference and so much better since I did!)

So same'ish reason PG program got tanked. Afraid of what might happen.

I do think a new faction every year is burning them out, both in terms of production capacity and developing rules, you only have to look at how few Infernal models they are releasing, plus the shocking state of their initial CID rules to see it's overwhelmed them a bit

Did they ever say why they wanted a new faction a year? I never really understood what purpose that would serve the game. Probably boils down to "money" in some fashion, but I can't really follow it.

One faction a year was an incredibly stupid decision since the start

I see. So same'ish reason PG program got tanked. Afraid of what might happen. Yeah...lawsuits are costly and a threat to small businesses. Who knew? I’m sure in both cases that money was not the sole reason, but I feel certain “money” was a non-trivial factor.

Money. Infinitely expanding the existing factions is not feasible. The only options I can see are to follow the GW route and perpetually render models obsolete, or to take Privateer’s approach and go wide (more factions) instead of deep (ludicrous number of models in each faction).

If they don't make new factions they die. Do you think old timers buying 3 models a year is going to keep the company afloat?
Riot Quest and Monsterpocalypse will not save em. I'm hoping it will do well but PP has a poor track record on non-core games. Partly because warmachine's crowd/audience is traditionally centred around gameplay, rather than fluff and setting. GW can toss out games galore simply because the setting is expansive and amazing. I hope PP does a better lore drive this year. Oblivion is a good step forward.
They are now encouraging cross-faction themes hoping that people will buy into other factions as well.

At this point they're only delaying the inevitable, they don't have the production capacity to maintain all their SKUs in production, so they will need to sunset a bunch if a few years.

But if they only cater to the old timers, they've already lost imo.
Why not lure new people in with sweet army boxes deals, new PGs, campaigns etc. That's where the real money is..
