HoD feels like a distraction or fill in for what is currently a very rushed faction.

Metal in all the kits. No Multikits for best heavies. Yeah, that may actually be a deal killer for me. I don't have an issue with having some metal models, of course, but going all metal with both the lights and the infantry units turns it in to a serious transportation headache.

I mean, a large part of my (very extensive) Menoth collection is metal. Because thats how it was for a long while. I can still carry my whole collection in one hand (minus huge bases, because of space) in a Sabol Armored Company case.

I've still got the first round of everything (I think) for Cygnar up until Legends. Hell, I had an ogre army for WHFB back when they were still "dogs of war" and every single one of those big-headed brutes was a solid block of lead and nickel. Army bag weighed about as much as my car. But just because it's something I could do doesn't mean it's something I want to do. I was elated when they started going to plastic with jacks, even when the quality was very bad. If everything is lightweight, you don't need to haul a Sabol Armored Case around. You can have a little lightly-padded, ultra efficient box that you toss in your gym bag.
And the resin they used for CG is best of both worlds. It's lightweight and reasonably strong AND it holds a lot of detail. You still pin, and clearcoat your paint jobs, but both hold up far better against regular wear and tear when you don't have a any metal-on-metal collisions (which do happen, even with care and good transport hardware).

Fair points, but I do still carry my Menites 1-2x per week to the LGS. Its not so heavy its a deal breaker. And I doubt Infernals ever get so extensive. Based on Grymkin, Id bet I could devout a Motorpool (half the size of the AC case) to the faction. My Circle are mainly metal (1ravager unit, lots of solos, many of the beasts) in a motorpool. Carrying it is no burden at all. Figure 3 masters. 1 soul stalker, 2 each of tormentor and desolator. 1 each light, maybe 2. Double grievers, double howlers, handful of solos, 3 guardians. Its not all that much weight. The biggest challenge is the Gate, for size. Seems like a very transportable bag.

Does anyone know why they made this decision after CGs plastic and resin?

I'm going to have to playtest, but I intend to regularly have 4 Tormentors on the table, but only 1-2 in the list.

Agathon, max howlers, 3 wretches, Regna, 3 max cultists (no WA), and what looks like support bloat and horrors. Asher, for example, solves upkeep problems, but if you're not facing upkeep, promote him to Horror on turn 1. In general, summon every turn and summon what solves your problems. Shriekers are terrifying for infantry swarms when backed up by wretches. All that being said, I have not had much time to play lately, so I may be full of crap.

Yeah, turn 1 I almost always summon a desolator though. Turn 2 could be a tormentor, making it a possible 3 on the table, but soul stalker in a terrain pocket, or utility light depending on match happened in playtest, over the theoretical tormentor. By turn 3 Ive probably lost a tormentor in trade. So more than 2, 3 at most seems unlikely.

I pretty much always want a Desolator and I would rather start with a Tormentor in my list and save the points. Still, I am always going to be trying to make as many horrors as I can.

Everything in the Infernal army box is something I want on hand. It's just not a good army by itself.
