that means field promotion would continue as normal (unless you managed to RFP as well). Exactly, the stone bearer is the Leader model of the unit and is subject to normal field promotion. Even if there's no Self Sacrifice possible, as long as you don't RFP it, it will just pop back to the unit. Do note that the effect of the stone would expire for that turn as it's a different model that now becomes the stone bearer. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. So it works like this? Stone killed -> field promotion, aura stops Stone RFPd, self sacrifice procs -> FP, aura stops Stone RFPd, no SSac -> stone's gone

Not exactly. When the stone is disabled, self sacrifice triggers. This usually means the stone doesn't get RFPd at all, most RFP triggers at boxed or destroyed. To prevent self sac, you need to have him outside 3" of the rest of his unit, or prevent healing (e.g. grievous wounds). If you just have him out of position, then he might still roll tough too.
If the model is destroyed without RFP, field promotion will occur as normal. If the model is successfully RFPd, no more stone (leader model).

Finally got in a game yesterday. I played trolls (grissel2) into Skorne (Rasheth). I ended up getting my teeth kicked in on attrition for advancing too agressively, but some (un)godly dice gave me a scenario win. That aside - questions! My brother chose to deploy his slingers behind his karax. That seemed ill advised to me, is there any reason not to AD them agressively? I ran grissel with double bombers, in hindsight I feel like I was sorely missing armor cracking. Was my list plain bad or did I get countered? Double bombers+grissel going into karax feels like a real bitter pill.
We'rw going all out with proxies now, so anything that isn't hugs based is fair game.

The Karax hard counter bombers. G2 should probably spray the hell out of them, particularly if they go in shield wall. She likes it when people bunch up. She could also spray to clear the girding Karax protecting other models from blast.
Important note: just because they are immune to blast damage does NOT make them immune to effects. Pyre trolls will set them on fire and G2 will knock them down.

Pyre trolls will set them on fire and G2 will knock them down. that's pretty much what ended up happening. half of his karax (and slingers) spent the game being knocked down, the rest were busy spiking dice into the fennblades. I used G2's spray to clear some karax off a flag in the end, too. She definitly feels very strong and fun to play. The main thing that needs to be worked around is Dash's relatively small range, since warriors tend to want to spread out a lot more than beasts. I'm tempted to replace a bomber with a mauler and a solo. Grissel already does work like a bomber, having 3 of them feels like overcommitting. My brother also tends to either rush in way too deep with his caster or stay the hell back, so assassination ends up being either completely off the table or an absolute cakewalk. The loss of rage was definitely felt during the game.

The math is bad, but you want a runebearer. He will extend her control range AND make the snipe free so she can double-boost all shots. Bomber Earthborn? Or bring in some champs and a light...
