What is the ideal number of 3", 4" and 5" circle templates required for the faction? Ie. will you ever see krueger1 with Druids that would require 9 3" templates?

Depends an awful lot on what's in your list. Could easily be "none" or "a dozen
Personally, I really like paper templates. You can stack up a dozen of them and wedge them between the pages of a rulebook or pop them in an envelope. They're easy to slide under models in place. You can fold them if necessary, to fit them in an odd spot. They don't ding paint, ever. If you lose them they're cheap to replace. And there are pdf's out there with appropriate pictures printed on them (forests, clouds, etc.) so they even look better than plastic templates or rings.

My general collection is 10-12 3" rings 5 4" Rings and 3 5" rings all of which (except the 4" they are PP official) were purchased from Michaels and are metal Broken egg games has awesome token and ring and measuring stick sets as well I love thier products. As a general rule I'd say have a ring for every Model that produces Remains in play AOE effects +3 for proxies or odd situations when you may need extra but I'm also really into pre-placement and being extra prepared :3
