Scourge of the Broken Coast? Maybe? I’m honestly still in the portion of the testing phase where I throw shit at the wall and see what sticks. I honestly think Asphyxious1 is good enough into CG on his own that he can pilot almost anything to a win against them as long as you’re not asleep at the wheel. At the moment I’m more focused on building him to answer the rest of Skarre’s problem matchups. Scourge is definitely the best build for straight dunking on Crucible Guard though. Well, if we want to stay on topic, I would say Scourge is the best drop into Tharn for him, as Gunslingers with Parasite should crap all over the males and the Raiders outthreat them. But, since you're already dropping Boaty into them, I'm assuming that's not what you're looking for. And honestly, I don't think Scourge outdoes Slaughterfleet in a lot of matchups? What I do find useful to have in a pairing, is Dark Host, because it doesn't care about living hate, it doesn't care if something makes them lose Pathfinder, and it doesn't care about armour. Either that or Black Industries, because Carapace is a hell of a drug. I mostly find it useful to have on hand against CoC, and possibly CG, because it turns their fancy spraying battle engines into fancy paperweights. Gaspy 1 might not have exceptional synergy in either of these, but he could work.

Gaspy 1 might not have exceptional synergy in either of these, but he could work. The only matchup when I’d say Scourge always outperforms SFR is the Crucible Guard Matchup since: 1) Non Battlegroup Heavy list’s will actually struggle to hit Satyxis Raiders since most of CGs Defense fixing is single target 2) Battlegroup Heavy lists make Assassination incredibly easy between the mountain of feedback Attacks and Asphyxious1’s Feat Turn Spell output. I’ve slowly grown to the opinion that Asphyxious1 Scourge might actually be the worst matchup for CG as a faction to have to deal with (maybe Lukas can do it, but I’ve never seen him on the table post CID). In nearly every other matchup a SFR list has performed better than Scourge for me right now with Asphyxious1. With the meta shifts that are occurring at the moment thanks to things like Sorscha0 & Initiates I may end up readjusting my Skarre3 pairing again, because who knows what’s going to start showing up in response to what I predict will be a resurgence of Harbinger & Karchev. On top of that Grymkin is about to look very different. For the longest time the biggest issue I was having with Skarre3 was just Wurmwood Bones & CG, but thanks to the current meta changes the Wurmwood/Iona pairing is falling out of favor, and luckily for me most Circle players are choosing to keep Iona and drop Wurmwood from the pair. At the same time Karchev builds are probably going to give my Skarre list a mountain of Headaches. I fully expect lists like conflictchamber.com/?c3201b_-0x7akWkTkTkTkTkTkTkTnjdHhFhFlOkZ86 to start emerging soon, which I think will further change how Circle is going to look, because quite frankly, I’m not convinced Iona can crack that much Armor, especially when there’s next to 0 Corpses for her to gather. It wouldn’t shock me if meta shifts cause Iona to fall out of favor as the Tharn caster the same way they caused Anamag to fall out of favor and largely get replaced by Kallus1 as most people’s primary PT caster. If Iona can’t handle the meta shift, and circle players decide to drop her & run Tharn with Morvahna1 instead since Mortality gives you that Armor swing every turn on multiple Heavies for Karchev, & anti-healing for Harbinger, then I’ll probably need to go back to Venethrax, or find something completely different to use as my Circle Drop, because Morvahna1 has all the tools to ruin Skarre3’s day. Mortality means you can’t end Ravager Pac mans with a tough check, Restoration + the Feat means she out attritions you, Eruption of Life creating forests will make maneuverability miserable, Sac Pawn takes Skarre’s Assassination off the table unless the Morvahna1 player leaves her in Melee Range of Skarre or the Kraken which should never happen.

I don't have a lot of experience with Crucible Guard, but the couple of times I did play against them, I was able to mostly ignore the Rocketmen while gaining on attrition elsewhere with Skarre 3. You can't really kill them, but they can't really kill Marauders under Deceleration either. I've also been thinking about what to pair with Skarre 3 in the current meta and after brain storming a bit with another local Cryx player, I'm intrigued by the option of Asphyxious 2 with some Bane Knights. It gives me a level of ARM cracking that is unmatched by Skarre 3. It offers a cloud wall, which is often less easy to tech for in the lists that Dark Host would be good into. The Knights are relatively fast and durable with Darragh and a Wraith Engine and Darragh and Tartarus can even move through them to get some punches in. The list also offers RFP tech , which should be useful against the likes of Morvahna. I still need to put the list through its paces, but have for now settled on this: conflictchamber.com/?c4201b_-0B0E1f3b1h1hi22E7ki5nki5nkhZh_bBCryx Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Dark Host [Asphyxious 2] Lich Lord Asphyxious [+28] - Nightwretch [7] - Scavenger [7] - Stalker [8] - Stalker [8] Bane Lord Tartarus [0(6)] Darragh Wrathe [9] Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist [4] Bane Knights (max) [15] - Bane Knight Officer [0(4)] Bane Knights (max) [15] - Bane Knight Officer [0(4)] Bane Warriors (min) [10] - Bane Warrior Officer & Standard [5] Wraith Engine [15]
