yes, KoN is a DM caster. Load him up with plenty of crabbits and take sacrifice as one of your arcana; drives people nuts. If they are being careful of sacrifice going off, you can pop his trump and wipe infantry squads off the table. If they decide to switch to not killing them and go for wounding, you can shield guard to pop even more, or spread damage around that way for the following turn where you pop your sacrifice. Ideally, I pop my arcana off in this order: Labyrinth, Trump, Sacrifice. His 16 inches of -2 spd is a massive hindrance for melee attempting to get up the board, while the crabbits can shield guard any shooting. This will usually help you get the alpha in a melee battle. The turn afterwards, they are going to be looking to uncluster the table of all your crabbits and take down a heavy or so, but will have to focus fire in fear of sacrifice. When you pop the trump, it screws up their entire game plan, especially because most people forget that the D3 nearest doesn't have a limited range like Ashes to Ashes AND only counts enemy models Their only choice is to soak the punishment or spread the damage out. Next turn, after xfering as much damage to as many models as possible via shield guard, they kill something and you heal all your models to full.
KoN is definitely a very, very deep caster. You can't plug him near any zone or flag because of his -2 arm, but you can use the battle engine to cancel it out. His main calling is dealing with masses of models that don't have an auto-regen on damage (circle tharn and everblight cav mostly), and he would only use his teleport spell if he's deep striking (combine dark shroud with his -2 arm aura for -4 arm, cast some damage spells, teleport out of danger) you can also use it for assassinations and running a warrior model way up the board and then switching with the king before bringing in your assassination model that's holding the dark shroud upkeep.
Thus far, I've had my best luck with KoN and The Child, where the dreamer and the wanderer just don't produce in my meta (armor or healing heavy, hard hitting, mat 7+). The Heretic is where I'd like to focus next, but I mainly see him in a bump in the night list that can easily gain corpses, which I haven't been able to develop yet.
