I'm a new player and have recently put together a Maddox/Double Lances Storm Division list conflictchamber.com/#c1201b_-0efN9G9Hakanaj9caodhadada5a6Cygnar Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Storm Division [Maddox 1] Major Beth Maddox [+30] - Ironclad [12] - Stormclad [18] - Squire [0(5)] Captain Arlan Strangewayes [0(4)] Journeyman Warcaster [4] - Firefly [8] Major Katherine Laddermore [8] Stormblade Captain [0(5)] Storm Lances (max) [20] Storm Lances (max) [20] Stormblade Infantry [10] - Stormblade Infantry Officer & Standard [5] It's early days and I'm enjoying the experiences so far, but am woefully inexperienced at playing cavalry. Are there any good tutorials out there for cavalry in general and Lances in general? Does anyone have advice or experience to share? Thanks in advance

The general rule for heavy cavalry is to not lose any on the approach. At 4 points a model losing a couple of Storm Lances is a massive blow.
As they threat 13" the only real danger to them before they commit is guns. Use defensive spells and terrain to protect them.
Once you do commit try to go for worthwhile trades, and don't forget to repo to better positions. I usually put one forward and pull the rest back, to force my opponent to use more models to reach all of them.
As Storm Lances have multiple attacks they get great value out of arm debuffs (mainly Ragman).
Having said all this I think Storm Lances are in a tough spot in the meta, there is plenty of upkeep removal and powerful guns, and in a world where people are preparing for Chosen of Everblight, Storm Lances get mullered in the crossfire

Thanks for this. Provided a few responses The general rule for heavy cavalry is to not lose any on the approach. At 4 points a model losing a couple of Storm Lances is a massive blow. Very much agree. One thing I found in my last game (against Kolgrima) was how susceptible they are to being jammed. Any unjamming tips? Also how to deliver the charge/assault/impact attacks more generaly As they threat 13" the only real danger to them before they commit is guns. I agree repo one Lance forward creates big headaches for opponents. As Storm Lances have multiple attacks they get great value out of arm debuffs (mainly Ragman).
Totally - just picked up ragman and think I will switch out Arlan for him in the list Having said all this I think Storm Lances are in a tough spot in the meta, there is plenty of upkeep removal and powerful guns, and in a world where people are preparing for Chosen of Everblight, Storm Lances get mullered in the crossfireI appreciate that Lances (and cygnar more broadly) are having a tough time in the meta. That said I love the models and think learning more about Cavalry will help improve my overall game. Also a good charge connecting under Maddox feat is just awesome!

For unjamming I usually use laddermore and/or a Stormblade captain, tactician makes it easy to leap frog over each other, Maddox is also a storm knight so can use tactician as well

As a merc player who wants to play Stormlances in Llaelese Resistance, I enjoy these tips.
