Is anyone playing her? What are your thoughts?
I stuck her in Shadows first as it was the theme i had on hand and it's not terrible anymore than Shadows itself having bad matchups. I just don't know that she brings anything better, and maybe worse, than Issyria to that list. I've looked at DoI as well, but need to slap together some assembly for that.
Countermeasures is still great, it just seems like her target choices are a bit, meh. I am liking free shots under her feat though, that's pretty spicy on the right gun *cough* HYPERION *cough*. All in all I'm liking her pretty well, but not sure she will be the one that takes down a major event for Ios.
Any experience or advice outside of Shadows? Anybody find a place where she's just crushing it?

I don't necessarily think she's a bad caster in a vacuum, but I don't find her compelling compared to other casters in ret and with what the rest of the faction can put around her. I think she's good for a pacific rim list because she synergizes really well with hyperions and having snipe on a helios is cute, but as far as all the huge base centric lists go (double judi, trolls 4 huge, skorne kaiju being the frontrunners), pac rim is probably the weakest in an overall meta that is largely pushing towards medium base infantry. countermeasures needs very specific matchups and builds to actually be a meaningful choice, and in a very melee-heavy meta that we're in it has less meaning a lot of the time anyways. veil of mists is table terrain dependent as to its actual usefulness, otherwise it's just a 4" cloud in a game where every full hordes faction can bring a mist speaker for guidance, most PoM lists pack rhoven and co, so on and so forth. locomotion to me seems like a trap for her with 6 focus and wanting to cast open fire at least once a turn, especially if she's running snipe with no sylys or 2 upkeeps with sylys. and for what her feat does one could definitely argue that issyria is doing a similar enough job but on a more compelling caster for the faction around her.
outside of a meme list like pacific rim, I don't really see a reason to run her over another caster to do the same thing. she can work in shadows or defenders to run a gun line, but I can't find a reason to play her over ossyan or kaelyssa or issyria for those purposes. she can work in FoW, but mostly as a pac rim caster (of which most of ours can do that fairly effectively too), and thyron has a similar play style but with a stronger kit of spells and field marshal for the same play style. and since she brings 0 melee delivery mechanisms to her list, she really doesn't bring anything to most of what LoD gives you as a theme. none of that means that she wouldn't be effective in any of those lists, but in a faction that only has 12 released casters I can't find a reason to play her over at least 9 of the other casters (kae, ossyan, elara2, issyria, 4shade, vyros2, rahn, helynna, thyron) for anything except a meme list like pacific rim for my personal preferences.

I have a Defenders list I like her in for a few things. She brings snipe, veil of mist, and her feat.
Snipe is great on Hyperion or the trident and make a lot of opponents think twice about the backfield. Also Hyperion with snipe and open fire can threat into opponent advance deploy top of one.
I bring the Ellowuyr swordsman for the veil of mist. It can just be a cloud but it can also help with terrain and also used offensively as they can move through models with no free strikes.
Her feat works best with any low rat models, so double stormfalls, hyperion, and even the trident as you will most likely not want to aim with it.
I agree that many casters can do a lot of what she does, but she has a few unique tricks to make her worthwhile. And I always appreciate a caster who can do work themselves in the late game.

I'm used to it on mkii Drake where the options were made of solid gold. Other than Spears and Destors I'm having a hard time nailing it down. and even those two have issues.

I target the Ellowuyr swordsmen, as they are up front. Only against things with assault or gunfighter does it come up, so only rarely is it useful.

So I'll be playing this when I get my next play date in. Moros is eating up the solos from my previous incarnation, but I had some issues with zones just having Hyperion as the lone warjack that I don't always want to commit. Points got muddled then so I went with Guardian as I like to leverage Ravyn herself and he can give me a layer of protection and be a scoring solo if I need it. However, where's my Arcanist? No Narn or MHA? These things don't make me "happy". Still slogging through getting that DoI stuff put together and painted. conflictchamber.com/#c5201b_-0AmwmxePhQmu3m3o3m3ohPdKRetribution Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Shadows of the Retribution [Ravyn 1] Ravyn, the Eternal Light [+28] - Hyperion [32] - Moros [11] - Fane Knight Guardian [0(4)] Mage Hunter Infiltrators (max) [15] Mage Hunter Strike Force (max) [16] - Mage Hunter Strike Force Commander [0(4)] Mage Hunter Strike Force (max) [16] - Mage Hunter Strike Force Commander [4] Spears of Scyrah [9] - Eiryss, Mage Hunter Commander [0(6)]
