So I'm looking for a new list to play, and I've got two units of painted Woldstalkers left over from Baldur's theme in MkII. Trying to find the best way to get some play with them. Bones seems like the obvious choice (think its the only theme where they're allowed...) but I wasn't sure about caster. Baldur2 brings his wall and ARM stacking in his feat round. Krueger2 has Windstorm and his feat to push back reprisals. Mohsar might be fun? Mirage and Zephyr seems like an amusing combo? Anyone playing woldstalkers with anything interesting?

Woldstalkers are bad, pretty much end of story.
Like...mostly units have some niche role they occupy where they could theoretically be good, but Woldstalkers are...available in 1 theme...which has sentry stones and woldwyrds....both of which are better than woldstalkers at the jobs woldstalkers want to do.
On top of that, they have victim stats, low output (which diminishes as you lose models) and are some of the most expensive models in the game (point for point, they're only slightly cheaper than dawnguard sentinels, when you consider that the stoneward isn't a 'work' model.
I have 2 units, painted, and have not used them since Mk2.

I am probably the most optimistic person about the Woldstalkers, but they unfortunately end up being difficult to get work out of. They are too easy to remove and losing even one kills the dream of getting one POW 16 shot onto something. I tried several games with Mohsar and Wurmwood to try and get a Curse of Shadows on something and get a POW 18 shot on something and it was either not the right play in the game or one or two would accidentally die despite my best efforts.
Also, RAT 6 isn’t reliable enough when you need EVERY shot to hit.
Maybe with Mortality as an option I’ll try again to make them work, but if your goal is a competitive list, Woldstalkers won’t see the table.

Yeah, I get that.
But I'm not playing for sheep stations here. Friendly games, and I currently have only one list with anything like a coat of paint. I need at least one other, to avoid boring my opponents. So I'm not asking for how to win tourneys with em, just who makes them least worst...

I had fun with them with Mohsar and Wurmwood. Basically any caster with an arm debuff (and preferably a Def debuff too)
They are bad...but you already know that.
Morvannah1 in Bones could make them pretty functional. Mortality is excellent on them and they get good work out of her feat. Maybe something like this:
Morvahna the Autumnblade - WB: +28 - Druid Wilder - PC: 0 - Megalith - PC: 20 (Battlegroup Points Used: 20) - Woldwarden - PC: 14 (Battlegroup Points Used: 8) - Woldwarden - PC: 14 - Woldwyrd - PC: 9 - Woldwyrd - PC: 9
Blackclad Stoneshaper - PC: 3 Blackclad Stoneshaper - PC: 3 Blackclad Wayfarer - PC: 0
Stoneward & Woldstalkers - Leader & 5 Grunts: 10 Stoneward & Woldstalkers - Leader & 5 Grunts: 10 Sentry Stone & Mannikins - Leader & 3 Grunts: 5 Sentry Stone & Mannikins - Leader & 3 Grunts: 5
Mortality gets you Rat 8 (10 if they aim and zephyr) Pow 14 Lasers which are pretty decent. Can even concentrated power for targeting heavies. Capping the chain at Pow 18 for the last shot. For 10 points each unit does about 20 Damage with concentrated fire (assuming you don’t miss) toss in a Wyrd and you get yourself a dead heavy!
That’s not counting potential eruptions coming from the geomamcy Crew and morv either. Plus on Feat turn if they kill a dude they explode in the going green version of reznick2’s feat.
Honestly if Woldstalkers were allowed in secret masters, counted for free points in both SM and Bones, and gained something or went down in cost I would play them more.

Yeah, I get that. But I'm not playing for sheep stations here. And to Google you have sent me. That's a good colloquialism you've got there.

Heh; my adoptive country has the best phrases. Aussies go flat out, like a lizard drinkin.
I haven't given up on this, just haven't managed another game, what with the holidays. I'm thinking of trying them in a Bones list with Baldur II - I'm not ignoring your advice macdaddy, but I don't own Morv, and I've never liked her enough to want to proxy her. I figure with Baldur under a hopefully well-timed feat you've got ARM 18 woldstalkers standing around being annoying. Lots of counter-feats will still eat them for brekfast, but it aint nothing... When I manage a game or two, I'll try to report back on how it works out.
