@zefirus - What's the overall scheme you are going for? From the pics I would sugest several thin layers of the the base colour and perhaps a wash on the armour of the ternions. I am going for an ice blue as the main color. Still trying to pin down what accompanying colors, but I am liking gunmetal on the jugg and copper for the weapons. That is a good suggestion for the layers. I was trying to figure out how to get good coverage without the stroke lines. I think that might do the trick! Also, with the ternions, I ended up going navy for the inside of the cloak. Might use that for the piece that hangs down from the belt.

It all really depends on what colours do you use... are you using P3? Valejo? GW? some other?
Ice blue is kind of tricky to get right because of the available light blues: they are usually quite thin and take several layers to cover. While there are a lot of brands that i do not know, perhaps starting with Valejo Eletric blue followed by either adding white or going to P3 Frostbite up to sharp white highlights could do the trick...

Thanks Slaughter. I have been using cheap paint if I am being honest. Just regular craft acrylic. I have been mixing a cobalt blue with white at about a 1/1 ratio and the color has seemed good, but yes, thin for sure. I will work some layers on and see how it comes up.

While there are some references to people having success with regular craft paints, i suggest you switch to whatever paint range you may have more accessible to you. They all have their pros and cons and you'll usually end up with a mix of several brands. Depending where you live, GW and Valejo are usually the most accessible ones. They are usually compatible and mix really well, altough i would stay away from metallics other than GW ( Retributor armour is the best gold around, and Valejo model Air steel is the best "silver" around in my opinion). But i'm getting off-topic here

My #wipwednesday -- Just painting up a friend's Rask. Silly blue fishman. I love this! but mine is already dark green... to repaint or not to repaint. Is the left side of his face torn up model wise?(Rask's left) mine look like his eye got clawed out... As for my work, never got to post pictures of what I finished in Feb cuz reasons. But I just painted Bethayne last night. Totally forgot that I have painted Belphagore but not her. Also painted the twins, though my flesh tone paint is trash. it's caking up when i try to use a small brush. But with a large brush and painting it first and sloppy it's perfectly smooth. annoying. So technically 3 casters done for this month so far. Will try to actually get pictures of both months together and posted.

Yeah, this particular Rask did have kind of a chewed up left side on his face, but his eye was intact thankfully. The fins were a bit scraggly though. :\ I realized I didn't post the final here: I wanna see your Bethayne, please share!

Yesterday I finished my Thor Steinhammer. It looks better than a close-up with a cell phone can convey: I also improved the paint jobs on my old Battlebox 'Jacks. Even though I've been painting for 35 years, I've still gotten much better in the last 5 years since I originally did them: I'm just finishing the final details on the rework of my gun bunnies (you can see them in the background) and then I'll fix up Gorton Grundback. I'm still deciding how to paint up the Driller (I don't even like the model, but he came in the BattleBox) and I'll spruce up the armor on the War Dog. Next I plan to the MkIII Battle Box and my Winter Guard Death Star (should be arriving in the coming week or so).

Le Sigh.
You get a new kit and want to get it put together right now so you can start painting.
Only to find the box is missing parts.
...
I hate that feeling.

I've been working on a Juggernaut, but so far this month I've only had something like three days when I actually had time for painting. Well, OK, I could have done some painting yesterday, but I was feeling run down and decided to play a few hours of Horizon: Zero Dawn instead. i would stay away from metallics other than GW ( Retributor armour is the best gold around, and Valejo model Air steel is the best "silver" around in my opinion). I've heard good things about Scale75 metallics. I picked up a bunch and have been trying to use them; still trying to decide if I like them more than GW's metallics or not. That's a very nice blue, what paints are you using for that?
