Would Irregulars be more interesting instead of adjusting the price points for free models, it only considered FA:C units for the free models? Only if they buffed said FA:C models.

Considering the price of said, it would be an overall nerf to the Irregulars as it currently stands, but we're already looking at a nerf anyways. I was just thinking that it would fit the character better.
Still, even with that, there should be a more Jack-dedicated Theme and leave Irregulars Infantry-dedicated, either way. Irregulars gives more value for a Jack Theme, but is mid-way to an Infantry Theme. If that is the problem, then it should be addressed as such instead of nerfing the Infantry aspect of the Theme even more.
Of course, in the apathy thread, I suggested one of the benefits being a reduced cost of FA:C units, too!

Thing is, if they nerf Ireggulars into an Infantry theme, Mercs consists of 100% infantry themes and 0% jack themes. I'd rather they make Irregulars more of a jack theme and make the other infanty themes more compelling choices. I know I'm biased but Irregulars never seemed too powerful to me in principle, it was just that all the other themes ranged from ok to terrible.

I know and I even addressed that in the second paragraph of what you quoted. I don't think Irregulars really fits a title of a couple of blokes guiding Jacks around, but that's just me.
Add to that, almost every other Beast and Jack focused themes are at 30 points, while Infantry are at 20. This makes Irregulars better at Jacks and worse at Infantry than most of the other Themes. And if the Jack aspect is too overpowered, then the two should be separated in to two separate Themes.

Yeah I kinda overread that, my apologies. And yes. Irregulars is a weird name for a jack theme, but it's where we are at now. I doubt they would just create an entirely new theme just so they can cut Irregs in half.
Probably the best course of action would be to make Irregulars the "Jacks and character units" theme, similar to Jaws, but in good, which is similar to what you suggested.

Hey shoe: Armor Piercing * Attack on the Mangler isn’t going to fly. It’s cute, I get it: it sounds like a harmless and fluffy change, and as long as you don’t think about maximizing it at all, it sounds reasonable. But then you add in Irregulars, and Crush!, and maybe a Rust Bomb or Kiss of Lyliss, and maybe an Obliterator Rocket from Magnus2 and a Calamity for good measure, and suddenly you’re one-shotting warcasters and heavy warjacks on a (free!) charge. I’ve got my eye on you!

Really wishing they'd just let me take some of these Steelheads in llealese resistance, I can take Nick and get nothing out of him as it sits.

Id take the same stance but have you seen Garryth2? What, are you suggesting that boostable ranged Armor Piercing POW 14's are dangerous or something?

Inserting Garryth2 into the steelhead CiD is somewhat insulting if only because of the clear power-level difference, but also because mercs did not get a new caster. I don't think Garryth is OP, but holy moly he looks fun and powerful.

Well sir, you can't say the Nomad isn't worth 12 points now so that battle is done I guess. They caved on The Rifleman by a point whitch won't get them played but you can't say they didn't budge on that. The theme has Pathfinder. Rocinante still won't be taken but maybe just maybe he might so what is left is getting the Cavalry fixed and the theme Force improved because it still flies apart like a sack of wet shit
