So I have been working on a Baldwin list to pair with my Syvestro list. I am reasonably locked down on my Syvestro list and feel confident in it. I tend to play more towards attrition. I am looking for ideas and thoughts on how to optimize the Baldwin list. conflictchamber.com/#cf201b_-12l9lclF7jlGlGlElxlylelglilelglilklkCrucible Guard Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Magnum Opus !!! Still fumbling around with it all myself. Looking at the pair, I find myself asking:
What is the shortfall in your Syvestro that you are trying to cover with Baldwin?

Truth be told, I'm not sure, Syvestro is pretty amazing into just about everything so far. But I have to bring another list. Baldwin does offer very accurate, long range shooting. I could imagine both lists struggling into Kreuger 2.

Im guessing you mean Krueger2 Bones, and not the Bret Fogel Secret Masters build or the new Storm Raptor build?
So my instinct is to run Locke into circle's bones. But maybe this would be different enough from syv? Im liking Rust and Oil.

Or is it just a name and the retaliatory are there for GW and cloud removal?

I'm confused as to what the oil is for? Or is it just a name and the retaliatory are there for GW and cloud removal? Oil, the effect from Retaliator's Alchemical Accelerant, adds an additional die of damage on the Railess Interceptor's Flame thrower. Working on the idea that the Syvestro list might have trouble with Krueger2, and also working off the assumption that Krueger might still be played in Bones of Orboros, I figure there will be a fair number of constructs for Rust to target. So in a perfect world, the ARM 20 wold could get Rusted from Hutchuck, get oiled from a retaliator and get smacked with an effective POW 14 railess boosted fire attack. Vulcan uses Miasma to prevent healing (even the gargantuan, since it isn't grievous wounds). Maybe a snipe on prospero lets him shoot his fire gun too. You could run a supressor for more fire damage, now that I think about it. Take out a retaliator to make room, but then you still have to make up 4 points elsewhere. In that case, I might reduce the storm troopers to minimum. Then fill in with Gorman and take out a mechanic. The decision there is whether two Retaliators are needed or if you can keep one alive. Lol. Gorman on a celestial engine would be funny. For me. Sad for the Circle player. But that's a perfect world where Gorman lasts to turn 3. Unfortunately, the theme prohibits CG infantry. But Krueger has Windstorm, reducing their range to 7. And single hitbox models are pretty trivially killed with lightning.

I don't think spending 18 points to boost a few pow 12 sprays is very optimal at all. Remember that the no heal aura from the vulcan won't work on constructs which all wolds are. Vulcan should be on full rust all game.

I think the biggest things Baldwin brings is boosted to hit rolls on a Inf unit, Hotshot, and Snipe. So I think he wants a strong shooting unit, either Rocketmen or Cruc Inf. This means he really should be Magnum Opus, and IMO have a Vulcan. That is why I started the way I did.
I have tried with a Halb package and it is good as well to protect the Inf, but I feel rocketmen might be able to do it better. I also think being a shooting army he loves to go first, go Magnum Opus, and Anne feel very good as well.

I mean with rust, the 12s are essentially 14s.

They play better with the retaliators and Baldwin. 22 boosted pow 15s on feat should maul wolds pretty well.
