So for a while I’ve been boarder line obsessed with the “lesser” kingdoms of the Iron Kingdoms. I love Rhul, Llaelese, Ordic and Ios histories and back ground. Having purchased all the no quarter primes, and having the basic Iron Kingdoms RPG manual, I’ve become somewhat curious as of late though in regards to King Baird. Does anyone know where I can get more info about him? And is PP good about sending random lore facts to me if I ask? Was thinking of sending them an email just to learn more about them!
Also on another note, I’ve heard that an heiress to the Llaelese throne was found in the Lore? If so does anyone know where, and how someone might purchase said lore if needs be?

In regards to your last question the heir was found in either the skull island book "Blood of Kings" or (more likely) "Acts of War: Flashpoint".
Either way, the setting is after the timejump from Mk2 fluff to Mk3, and it's what makes the war between Khador and Cygnar kick into higher gear.

I'd ask around in the official IKRPG Forum.

I think Baird is in one of the old NQ's. I'm not near my collection currently, so not swearing to it, but I have some half remembered foggy recollection of there being a sizeable write up on him.

If you happen to have time when next you are near your collection, would you mind looking into which one?

Baird and Kaetlyn di Martyn are both repeatedly discussed in Acts of War: Aftershock though they never appear. Julius married Kaetlyn with the intent for their child to annex Llael. Ashlynn has no loyalty to Kaetlyn, and has a less than a generation to make Llael capable of standing on its own in order to resist this annexation. She'll go to war over it if necessary, and Stryker says he'll turn on Cygnar in that case. Ashlynn is trying to build an alliance with King Baird in order to kick Khador out then resist Cygnar/Protectorate influence. Rescuing the leaders of the Crucible Guard is a means to get Ord more involved; Alyce is a relative of Baird's.

Is Kaetlyn just a Female Dog, or is there other issues? I mean I can see not wanting an annexation, but still. As for Baird I find it funny how everyone always seems to be trying to win him over and he’s always described as just kinda doing his own things. Cygnar has been trying to make a formal alliance forever, but when Khador comes and takes the one Cygnarian city (the one in Thornfall who’s name escapes me) he moves in and claims it as his... which everyone is happy it isn’t in Khador’s hands... but no one seems to bring up that dude just moved in and claimed a city haha. Also on that note though it is interesting now though how even though Llael wants help, he’s still like “I’m not gonna get directly involved here” but kinda just plays the situation to his advantage.

Ashlynn doesn't know her directly but generally isn't too favorably disposed to any llaelese nobles who haven't been actively fighting for llael. Kaetlyn doesn't have much in the way of character traits thus far, but being insufficiently committed to a free and independent llael is enough for Ash to be suspicious of her.

By free and independent Llael, don't you mean Ashlynn wants her own country and thinks she deserves it because she's been fighting and suffering more than any of the other "worthies"? So heir or not she won't let anyone or anything stand in the way of her throne.

Since the Crucible Guard stuff came out, it looks like Baird is using the Golden Crucible to update Ord from having the least technologically advanced army to the most advanced one, even surpassing Cygnar in many respects. Right now Crucible Guard is an Ord army by having a permanent mercenary contract with the country.
Which is a smart move, keeps Ord neutral when the Guard goes on contract so undermine foreign powers but is for all intents and purposes Ord's army. Take into account the wealth and naval privateer port of Five Fingers and Ord is in a pretty safe place. Mostly thanks to Khador. After the invasion of Lael, Baird took the possibility of a Khardic invasion seriously.

So heir or not she won't let anyone or anything stand in the way of her throne. Not really. Ashlynn is I think one of the few real patriots who fights for her country because no one else will. I don't think she has an interest in claiming the throne for herself and she will support a "worthy" heir. But if this heir happens to be a mysterious young girl that she has never met and just kind of shows up, she might not deem her "worthy", especially if it looks like she is just a strawman of Cygnar.

But if this heir happens to be a mysterious young girl that she has never met and just kind of shows up, she might not deem her "worthy", especially if it looks like she is just a strawman of Cygnar. More or less. Ashlynn takes the "free and independent" part of her fight seriously. Julius clearly sees Kaetlyn as a means to link Cygnar and Llael more closely, and is hardly subtle about it. Ashlynn doesn't respond well to that.
First, Kaetlyn is an unknown to her (that might in fact be part of the part of the problem, as Stryker suggests at one point) - Ashlynn thinks Kaetlyn will essentially be a Cygnaran puppet monarch.
Second, Ashlynn also saw how being closely linked to Cygnar didn't help Llael before - Leto pulled Cygnaran forces away from Llael when Cygnaran interests were more directly threatened. She thinks Llael needs to be able to stand alone.
What looks like it could be interesting is whether Llael even goes back to having a monarch at all. The monarchy doesn't seem to be the focus of the work of the Resistance - so far as we've seen, they're not fighting to restore the monarchy and apart from "Khador Out!" it's not entirely clear what they actually are fighting for. On top of that, Khador's worked at wiping out most of the heirs, seemingly with only Kaetlyn left. There's no reason the monarchy has to be hereditary (Cynar's is not, at least in theory), but there is space for an independent Llael to become the first non-monarchical Iron "Kingdom" (Protectorate is slightly different, as they're only a de facto "Iron Kingdom", not a kingdom which was party to the original treaties).

Mehh.... Whether she calls herself queen, or not doesn't really matter. Ashlynn has made clear that there aren't any worthy candidates for the throne, since her definition of "worthy" basically requires being part of the Resistance. So she's basically setting herself up to rule. See Oliver Cromwell for historical details.

Whether Ashlynn is their version of George Washington or not remains to be seen if she can rid Llael of Khardic and Protectorate forces. What she says may sound good, but until all is said and done, we don't know which way she will go. It may well turn out that after years of fighting that she turns tin pot because she cannot trust anyone else with the job. Of course, she may go Washington and help set up a government and get it going before retiring to a plantation.
Either way, it is irrelevant so long as Llael is WW2 Poland.
