So Mikeda 3 now caught my eye. I plan to try a non-immortals list and run a mixed arms army with her.
My list idea.
Makeda 3 in Winds of Death. -Guardian ×2 -Basilisk Krea -Titan Gladiator -Rhinodon
Seige Animantarax ×2 Venator Dakar ×2 Willbreaker ×1 (free)
Paingiver Beast Handlers (min)×1 Venator Catapult Crew ×2 (free) Venator Reivers with Attachment (min)×1
So ill be honest i kinda wanted to make a mixed arms gunline using scorn to pair with my Narresh list for some time.
When i read the cid and read the idea of Makeda gaining both Bulwark and Incite i was sold.
First i will state the list ideas. Bulwark allows Makeda to push spread out her battlegroup nicely. The basilisk animi Paired with Bulwark alowws Makeda to put a +4def/+2 arm battlegroup down feild rushing for positioning.
Incite is a force multiplier. Sense if affects all rolls targeting enemy models within 10 inches (makadas cmd) of her it allows doe some unique play.
Catipults become a rng18 aoe4 pow16(18 with incite) shot what can contest or control far zones and shoot into the mix. Dispite being in accurate they can still hit a rat6 with dakar vetrin leader, aim, and incite bonus.
Aditionally the catapult damage is increased with burst fire making it a pow 19vs 40mm base models and 20 vs 50mm+ based models. Arcing fire keeps lines honest and playable. Dakar also allows rerolls on attack or damage once.
In the same note the reivers can be rat 7 pow 12 base with a minifeat extending their range to 16 from 12. Incite can allow for them to deal base pow 14 guns before a cma into targets of higher armor. With combined arms they also get free rerolls on cma attacks making them a min rat9 rng 12 pow 14-16 base gun for two grunts.
Willbreaker is for any model you need it. Battle engins take the place of two heavy beasts lightening up makedas fury load.
And both the gladiator and rhinodon can take great advantage of rush, incite, bulwark, enrage, and free charges to hit well abouve their point cost.
(Do unit models still count as part of a battlegroup?)

If you are asking if the Imortal bodyguards are part of her battlegroup they are.

If you are asking if the Imortal bodyguards are part of her battlegroup they are. Cool that means they offer another Avenue yo use to brock bulwark on the two heavy beasts

VoD to Incite, Eliminator for a spray. Ground zero changed to bullwark. She is still fury six and incite cost four. She has those two upkeeps. She is not meant to cast incite unless feating basically. So, start off with upkeeps and bully forward with maybe a spiny growth or krea helping. Enjoy +2 def and no knockdown for her and battlegroup. You have +2 arm if damaged, and after spiny youre 17/20. Make that 19/22 with krea. Remember incite is off cmd not control and it's the enemies that have to be in. Also it cannot be bloodbooned, so she has a lot of risks and need for resiliency. Also remember a spray during her feat will only give back 1 fury regardless of how many killed I expect they view Marketh as a required take with her. That way you can cast Incite and still sit on 2. Might need to kill off a few of your own guys for souls though, keep him fully powered.

I'm going to miss Eliminator. You could really dig deep with that, between one from Marketh, and another from Blood Boon. I suspect it had to go because you could easily spread Incite extremely far with Eliminator. As is, I see it able to reach well. Both Sprint and Fate Walker are in the toolkit, meaning she can do a gonzo attack run, then reposition sow others will benefit.

Brutes and Molik with Bulwark seem quite nice: force to reroll on a Def 15 warbeast (and a Def 15 warbeast with set defense) seems fairly mean.

Somebody should test Archidon Spam and see if that's a bit broken. Seems like Def16 all day with heavies could be problematic. If you're taking heavies, is it worth it to take a Scarab Swarm to prock Bulwark instead of sticking them together?

It notes "The Spellcaster" not "makeda". That means Marketh gets to advance 2" for each model destroyed. a good point of reference of the opposite case is ritual sacrifice where it specifically states Skarre will gain the focus, not the spell caster

I've heard week 2 updates are out. Does anyone have the summary? (I'm not part of CID but like to follow along)

Aradus Sentinel We want to try a rather substanital design shift on the Aradus to give it a different home than the Cannoneer. The changes push it towards a lower cost heavy with a solid ranged attack and strong durability.
FURY 3 Cost 14 Gain Gunfighter XICONX
Venom Blaster RNG SP 10, AOE -, POW 14. Cut Arcing Fire and Scather.
Bronzeback Titan The Bronzeback is gaining Beat Back on it's War Gauntlets and Puissance is a whole new animus. Please make sure to test Puissance with some of the more front line Skorne casters and report back about both their survivability as well as the Bronze Backs'.
Change the text of Puissance to the following:
Animus Cost RNG AOE POW DUR OFF Puissance 1 6 – – Turn No The spellcaster gains Unyielding. Puissance lasts for one round. (A model with Unyielding gains +2 ARM against melee damage rolls.)
Gain Hyper Aggressive:
Hyper-Aggressive - When this model suffers damage from an enemy attack at any time except while it is advancing, after the attack is resolved it can immediately make a full advance directly toward the attacking model.
War Gauntlets gain Beat Back:
Beat Back - Immediately after a basic attack with this weapon is resolved during this model’s Combat Action, the enemy model hit can be pushed 1˝ directly away from the attacking model. After the enemy model is pushed, the attacking model can advance up to 1˝ directly toward it.
Mammoth Changing the intended role of the Mammoth - we now wish to see it as a sort of gun platform that advances slowly. When it is angered/engaged it then pushes forward with a substantial melee output.
RAT 5. Cut Assault and Shooting Gallery.
Gain Pain Maddened:
Pain Maddened - When this model is damaged by an enemy attack, this model gains +2 SPD for one round.
Siege Battery RNG 14 and gains Full Battery Fire (★ Attack):
Full Battery Fire (★ Attack) - This weapon becomes POW 20 for this attack. On a direct hit, models hit are thrown d6˝ directly away from the attacker. Roll distance once for all models affected. Models thrown do not deviate. Move models farthest from the attacker first. Instead of suffering blast damage, models hit but not directly hit suffer a damage roll with POW equal to half the POW of this attack. The POW of collateral damage is equal to half the POW of this attack.
Tusks RNG 3.
Titan Cannoneer This change is to keep the Cannoneer different from the Sentinel while also increasing it's output.
FURY 4.
Immortals: A lower cost Immortal unit should help the Exalted theme be able to sneak in the support solos required for the theme to feel complete.
Cost 8/14.
Extoller Advocate A small quality of life update for the Advocate, Grave Mist is no longer ignored by many common special rules and is simply more consistently useful.
Change the text of Grave mist to the following:
Grave Mist - At any time during its activation, this model can spend one soul token to give models in its unit concealment and +2 DEF for one round.
Abidan the Keeper Sticking with the "Buddy of Ancestral Guardians" idea we've decided to go for a different approach with Abidan the Keeper. Please test this type of recursion and assess whether this is a fun and interesting way to bring Abidan. Cut Bodyguard. Cut Imperishable Conviction Cut Weapon Master. Cut Righteous Vengeance.
Gain Flank [Ancestral Guardian] Flank [Ancestral Guardian] - When this model makes a melee attack against an enemy model in the melee range of , this model gains +2 to attack rolls and gains an additional damage die.
Gain Immortal Companion. Immortal Companion - If this model has been destroyed and not returned to play, during your Control Phase a friendly Ancestral Guardian can spend a soul token to return this model to play. Place this model anywhere completely within 2˝ of the Ancestral Guardian.
Ancestral Guardian A small bump in POW will make the Ancestral Guardian a more enticing choice and hopefully make it feel more worth the points as a combat oriented solo as well as a support piece.
Halberd is POW 6.
Aptimus Marketh Adding the extoller signature ranged attack and Harmonius Exaltation will let Marketh be a little more active on the table, especially when Souls are not abundant for him to use.
Gain Harmonious Exaltation Magic Ability: Harmonious Exaltation (★Action) - RNG CMD. Target this model’s XXX. If it is in range, once this turn when the XXX casts a spell, reduce the COST of the spell by 1.
Gain RNG 8, ROF 1, POW 6 Spirit Eye with Damage Type: Magical XICONX and Annihilating Gaze:
Annihilating Gaze - When a living or undead model is hit by this attack, add its current STR to the damage roll.
Extoller Novititate In an attempt to help smooth out some of the perceived issues with hitting power in this theme force we've added a STR buff to the Novititate.
Gain Stones’ Wrath (★Action) Magic Ability:
Stones’ Wrath (★Action) - RNG CMD. Target friendly Faction construct model. If the model is in range, it gains +2 STR this round.
Immortal Vessel We did not really like how the new direction (new since Lock and Load) of the Vessel was going so we've reverted to the previous version that was spoiled at Lock and Load. Removing the need for Souls allowed us to reduce the point cost and increase the FA of the Vessel while also increasing the avaible souls to other models.
Cut Soul Taker: Gatekeeper. Cut Shadow Magic. Cut Spirit-Driven Cut Strength of Death
Gain Telemetry: Telemetry - Other friendly Faction models gain +2 to magic attack rolls against enemy models in this model’s command range.

Wow, thanks for the share tat2dtitan. I can't get the CID files with details, so this is helpful. I'm super impressed by most of the changes. The Extoller Novitiate change to grant the Stoneshaper STR buff will be very nice under some situations, particularly making any AG or the BE extremely threatening. The change to Grave Mist is also welcome, since it can be a conditional +4 swing to DEF. That matters on Immortals quite a deal, forcing many guns into a boosting situation, if available. The Bronzeback changes are the standouts one for me. If it is usable by our melee-centric warlocks, the budget +2 ARM is very nice, and native Beat Back (even the reduced MKIII version) is a welcome addition. Actually not that stoked about the Abidan changes though. Skorne has traditionally had many warlocks that want to play forward and threaten beat face. Bodyguard was an ability I liked quite a bit, since I enjoy playing some of the bullies we have. I'll have to test the new Mammoth at some point, but even lacking Assault, I think it can be an even more effective assassination piece in some lists. That brutal POW 20 boosted hit, not counting debuffs, with a collateral damage and knockdown effect is scary. Many warcasters go down immediately to that. I normally only use him in DoA with the Splatter Boar and Morghoul2, and I'm definitely sticking with that package moving forward.

The grave mist is a mistake. Just a +2 def no concealment.

The grave mist is a mistake. Just a +2 def no concealment. Still better. I'm not math inclined by nature, but I take Pagani on faith that 13 DEF is good. How much is the points reduction for Immortals?

I'm very happy with all these moves. Well, Abba is a lateral move. He's the warrior solo that keeps on giving now instead of being "actually useful". Probably damn good for assassinations, blocking lanes, general attrition.
Really excited for the Mammoth, Sentinel, BB. Excited that the Immortals have gotten 2 points cheaper overall (last week the us became 3 pts). Excited that Makeda3 didn't change, I like her! And holy crap Aptimus Marketh! Very powerful!
