So I’m currently helping to raise a small meta in my city, so I haven’t had much time to play (and even when I do I usually go pretty soft), but I finally got to play a 50 point with Convergence the other day, and even taking things a little slower for learning purposes HOLY COW!!! Our jacks are awesome! And our Mechanics are freaking SWEET! Coming from Mercs I feel like I’ve stumbled upon a very well kept secret haha, does help though I was playing Locke I guess, but still! Super excited for the faction! And hopefully I get to play them again soon! Though I may ease up some more and try a different caster next time!

Nomads are... alright. I guess when it comes to them my issue is more with the casters that use them. I kept hearing people say "oh just take 3+nomads and win" but it never worked out that way. Most merc casters have 6 focus, and for me, I like to be able to count on every model I have being able to do it's worth on any given turn. Problem is, most opponents forced me to choose which nomad was going to get work done, and then punishing me for the ones I chose.
example; each nomad is within range to charge an enemy heavy on the same turn. I also have troops however so my caster probably has to upkeep at least one or two spells, meaning I have 4 focus. I can fully load one jack while partially loading another, or partially load all three. If I only partially load, I get a charge attack and one bought attack at the pow 18 to crack the enemy heavy (which won't cut it most the time unless I roll lucky... and I never roll lucky). If I fully load, I get 3 pow 18s with the first being boosted... which sometimes is enough (again I can roll unlucky but odds are better) to cripple the enemy heavy and save the nomad engaged a turn. However now the other two nomads are either in charge range, or have moved in but not crippled anything so they die next turn.
Where as with Convergence, EVERY jack I have at least has the potential to get maximum focus every turn and get it's maximum output as long as I plan accordingly. If my opponent puts three heavies in the way of Locke's three inverters I can actually fuel all three to the max focus, get higher pow, nifty effects, AND jackhammer it four attacks wasn't enough.
Then of course there's the MAT and RAT scores. In Mercs, par for the course is 6. Which isn't bad until you get to things like legion and circle beasts (which I face a lot of). Then your focus seems to do even less as now you can't buy attacks as you have to boost to hit. Where as I can choose how I wanna play the game with convergence. If I wanna run a bunch of smashy face stomping guys? Axis or Locke. If I wanna shoot my opponents high def stuff? Mom or Orion. If I want a combined arms kinda deal, I got Syntherion (or mom really). Point is I have more control then being stuck at MAT 6 like I am with the nomad.

Mercs will no longer have that problem soon. Steelhead arcanists and powder monkeys will make focus issues a thing of the past.

Even having just two empowers in a list does a ton for enabling the list to do what it needs to. Having Jr's helps a ton as well but that's a separate topic.
