Hi guys, so I hope you can help me a little bit cause I don't know what I should do:( Cause of MK2 and the old themes I actually own : 1 full Unit Boomhowler 1 full Unit Nyss 1 full Unit of the Devildogs So do ya think it's possible and reliable to give all three a chance? I hate them standing on my shelf for nothing, but I don't know how and what to do with them

As a Ret player, I can only really speak for the Nyss... unfortunately, they aren't really all that effective (or desired) outside of Ret given what other options are available to Mercs. But I'd've thought that Irregulars would like Hunter... but I'm not sure whether Tough under the Dominator is worth it... :/
Still, there's plenty of janky things you can do, like Madhammer (Force Field/Primed, for AoE deviation, pretty nifty output and jamming potential). Fiona and Affliction (not much terrain based hiding) or Nonokrion Brand (to ignore even more when shooting). Ashlynn, Quicken & Roulette can make them jam handily. Shae & Phantasm...

I sometimes play a unit of nyss with magnus2, when im not in the mood for full out nomad spam. Togehter with eiryss1 and a renegade, they pose quite the assasination threat. Also Calamity really helps their output.
Mercenary Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] The Irregulars
[Magnus 2] Magnus the Warlord [+28] - Nomad [11] - Nomad [11] - Nomad [11] - Renegade [10] - Renegade [10] - Toro [13] - Sylys Wyshnalyrr, the Seeker [0(4)] Alten Ashley [0(6)] Eiryss, Angel of Retribution [0(6)] Kell Bailoch [0(5)] Cylena Raefyll & Nyss Hunters (max) [19] Kayazy Eliminators [5] Kayazy Eliminators [5] Lady Aiyana & Master Holt [8]
Something like this. I doubt its as optimised as six+ nomads, but it has advance move for all heavys, and a lot of assassination potential. Also alten, kell and eiryss can really criple heavys. but of course on could argue for ragman, lanyssa, eilish, gorman, orin.....

Devil Dogs are both expensive and criminally underrated. Try them with Magnus1 in Irregulars. I have had great successs with them.
Boomhowler & Company... eh, you’ve got me. At least they can’t be trampled...?

michael I agree. Devil dogs got a big buff with Irregulars and meta shift to melee armies.

michael I agree. Devil dogs got a big buff with Irregulars and meta shift to melee armies. Probably being thick but what do they get from irregulars? I can see snipe from magnus1 but aside from counting towards free stuff points and letting a Jack advance move in not seeing it.

Magnus1 provides both Snipe and Death Ward to the unit. Additionally, Iron Aggression on a marshaled warjack with Flank is... solid.

Their rules are fine, they are just criminally over costed, PP overestimated their value in the MK3 landscape, but they are unlikely to get a CID anytime soon, so they can just sit on the shelf along with half of the models in this game

Nyss are great. Hunter, pathfinder and 1" reach WMs. How much would you expect to pay for 10 of them?

16. they stink and are teh easiest 19 points to remove u can buy 16 in Mercs... but 19 (maybe 18 at a stretch) in Ret... 'cos post CID, they can turn into the most obnoxious jammers available to Ret (DEF 16 vs ranged, immune to blast damage in two themes, caster independent, while certain casters can ramp them up ridiculously).
