hi guys! I'm not sure if post this thread here or in general discussion, the mods can shift if i do something wrong thank you!
First things first, i play Warmachine in MKII for 1-2 years than come MkIII and i quit for various problems now i was thinking to come back.
I played only Protectorate but now i'm not sure if change or not, i don't like the nerf at flameguard and zealots and i have never liked errants and exemplars.
I have read and "studied" all the armies in warmachine and hordes and i narrowed down the choice at 4 armies. I need help for the final choice, convince me that one of these armies is the right one.
Protectorate of Menoth:
+ I like very much the background! Cool Caster i'm thinking of playing Durst and Thyra. Some jack are not so much ugly.
- I'm very insicure if re-playing Protectorate or change. I have a very big problem with the units!
Crucible Guard:
+Cool models! I like some jack. I like rocketmen, storm trooper and assault!
- I have read this army will have very little support in the future. I have read all the 5 casters and....no one impressed me (not for the rules but for the background and the models).
Mercenaries:
+ I like dwarf and steelheads!!! My friend play khador, going with Llalese resistence it's an option. i like 2-3 casters.
- dwarf and umans for theme its double army e double money! Hard to play, ugly jacks (crucible jack are ok).
Legion of Everblight:
+ very big change (i played only warmachine not hordes). I like dragons and monster. Primal Terrors with a lot of Ogres??? Yes please!!!
- I hate elves!!!!! I don't like the elves unit of this army! Ok i play Thagrosh but my 2° caster??? Only women and elves? Or elves women......
Thanks for the help!!!

Protectorate of Menoth: Do you hate all units in the Protectorate, or just most? Crucible Guard/Mercenaries: There is a Theme which allows you to take two Crucible Guard units, The Llaelese Resistance. Its limited on Warcasters, but the Toro and Vanguard are very fitting for the Battlegroup holders here. Personally, I do think the Sellsword Jacks look fine, but I got in to them because of Magnus, and I love their rugged look.
Legion of Everblight: Yeah, a lot of elves, and a lot of women. I can't address the competitiveness of leaving out the Elven units and Warlocks. However, for the non-Elf Warlocks, there is Anamag (a new comer), the Absylonias, and Kallus2. Yes, technically, Absylonia and Kallus are "elves", but they've mutated so much that they are as hard to distinguish as them as Thagrosh is an Ogrun.

Not to mention the two incarnations of Thagrosh.

Not to mention the two incarnations of Thagrosh. Well, the question was who to have besides Thagrosh. Sure, you could do both lists as Thagrosh (unless it is a very tight tournament which follows older list-making rules), but it is nice to have options.

Thanks for the answer!
Protectorate of Menoth: I like the flameguard units, the zealots and the bastions (off course the choir!!).
Crucible Guard/Mercenaries: I know the theme Llaelese and i like it. Legion of Everblight: Mmm today i read better the background and i study the models of the Legion casters, i like Thagrosh off course but Fyanna 2 has a very cool model. If i choose legion i play this couple of warlocks.

For a new challenge, I would recommend going Legion. You get the enjoyment of learning how to use Fury, as opposed to Focus, as well as the Warbeasts are largely awesome.
Of course, I've heard that a lot of people are selling off their Protectorate models, so getting back in may not be too bad. There are two Themes which have nothing to do with the most of the Protectorate Knights (oddly enough, I'm the exact oppossite, I prefer the Knights over the Teeming Masses), so options exist there.
One other point of the Llaelese Resistance, they can take Protectorate units instead of Crucible units, so that may be a desired thought, especially if you plan on going in light on collection. Most will also work for the Protectorate as well. However, getting rid of Mercenary Warjacks and Warcasters if you change your mind can be a challenge.

I wouldn't say the Flameguard units were nerfed in any way. Daughters and Flamebringers are visibly better than in mk2, Temple Flameguard are rock solid for such a cheap unit. All those units are pretty caster-independent so can work well with most of our casters. Cleansers are probably the least universal, but can be really good with certain casters.
