I really want to try the satyxis theme but I can't find any caster that particularly buffs or works well with satyxis. I would have thought that one of the Skarres would have had something like leader or elite cadre Satyxis but they don't. In these days of PP making casters that only slot well into one theme is there one particular caster who tunes these ladies to "11"?

In these days of PP making casters that only slot well into one theme is there one particular caster who tunes these ladies to "11"? I hear Asphyxious1 works well for them, but I have been running Satyxis exclusively since I have started Mk.III and have had GREAT results with Deneghra1 and The Witch Coven. Deneghra1 has let my girls hit way harder than they should, and get into many pesky places with Ghost Walk. The Coven do a great job of delivering the Satyxis to your enemy, as well as solving any mobility issues you may have if you are keeping the +2 DEF vs magic and shooting (along with immunity to blaet damage) up from the Raider UA. Depending on the build, Skarre1 has been great fun with them as well, another forum member has turned me on to a 4 Stalker Skarre1 list with all the Satyxis you could ever want, I just bought 4 Stalkers last night and plan to give it a go.

What makes these casters better for satyxis over say Agithia, who also has ghost walk and parasite? I guess I'm just disappointed that there is a satyxis caster in the game but she doesn't do anything to aid satyxis more than any other model.
Maybe I'm just not looking at the satyxis picture correctly. Should I be looking more at the caster or maybe towards support pieces, like the Raider Captain? I haven't seen that many broken coast lists that really focus on the satyxis rather than say (no offense) a 4 stalker Skarre1 list. Notice that for that particular list the focus is on the jacks and not the satyxis.
Please don't think that I'm trying to be dense or obnoxious. I'm just looking for a workable list that showcases satyxis rather than jacks or the caster. I'd like the list to be able to play into hordes as well as into jacks if possible.

Gaspy 1 works well as he can stack a -5 arm debuff, which pairs very well with Satyxis that have 2 attacks, also Scything touch lets him take Saxon to grant pathfinder instead of Ragman.
He can also one round a heavy by himself, or delete entire units of light infantry using his feat.

He can also one round a heavy by himself, or delete entire units of light infantry using his feat. Eh, I'm not that big on his feat as a means to deal with light infantry, unboostable POW 5 can have trouble breaking ARM 11, more just as opportunistic chaff clearance that I'll take whatever the result. I'll use his feat for spellcasting for the most part (or depending on build, FOC regeneration after allocation, but even then it can be a bit of waste since he otherwise doesn't do much for helljacks)... OP: Not a bad SotBC list, but you're best off with double chickens at least... cracking ARM is not the purpose of the theme or the list, Parasite/Scything Touch allow you to do point removal for high ARM units/key jacks, but general ARM take-down is best for your other list. Go min Blood Witches as they'll struggle to all do work when they Ambush, get the Blood Priestess for a free upkeep and maybe an Inflictor, as you don't have much by way of Sucker! targets. I'm partial to a unit of BOIs for either Sucker! or Curse. My list (when I get my second unit of Raiders): Denny1 - Blood Priestess - Deathripper (x 2) - Seether Axiara Severa Misery Cage Captain (x 2) min Blood Witches + CA Gunslingers max Raiders + CA (x 2) BOI's There's the double Raiders/double Gunslingers variant, too, as Run 'n Gunning Gunslingers with Denny is goooooooooooood...!

Denny1 and gaspy1 are the most popular choices yes, but coven and all 3 skarres can work well with satyxis. Skarre1 and 2 have backlash, its only useful against warmachine, but its a well known combo for a reason. Skarre1 dark guidance will make those crit knockdowns come up more often, its not that big of a deal but its still another synergy. Skarre2 has black spot, that combined with sidestep from the hag or overtake from the sea witch will make satyxis pseudo-gerlaks. Finally skarre3 has a damage and a spd boosters and can bring back up to 3 gunslingers, plus decel which is always good. Maybe they are not always the go-to caster but im sure all 3 skarres work wella in SotBC

I think all of the casters mentioned so far do well in Scourge, but Asphyxious1, Denny1, Coven, and Skarre3 would be my personal favorites. Agathia (Ghost Walk and Parasite) would also do well. I don’t like Skarre1 in Scourge because I really hate not having a Skarlock to cast Dark Ritual for her (that’s maybe just me being an over-privileged Cryx whiner). I’ve been running an Asphyxious1 Scourge list that seems pretty common and I really enjoy it. It has felt fairly strong into Warmachine (Feedback everywhere will do that) and does well into Hordes too. It has also felt really strong in 2018 scenarios. It is similar to the one leotherat posted (Scourge lists do tend to look quite similar): War Room Army Cryx - Watch your Back! Theme: Scourge of the Broken Coast 3 / 3 Free Cards 75 / 75 Army Iron Lich Asphyxious - WJ: +28 - Barathrum - PC: 15 (Battlegroup Points Used: 15) - Deathripper - PC: 6 (Battlegroup Points Used: 6) - Nightwretch - PC: 7 (Battlegroup Points Used: 7) Axiara Wraithblade - PC: 0 Severa Blacktide - PC: 0 Satyxis Raider Captain - PC: 0 Satyxis Raider Captain - PC: 4 Eilish Garrity, the Occultist - PC: 5 Satyxis Blood Witches - Leader & 5 Grunts: 8 - Satyxis Blood Hag - PC: 4 Satyxis Raiders - Leader & 9 Grunts: 16 - Satyxis Raider Sea Witch - PC: 4 Satyxis Raiders - Leader & 9 Grunts: 16 - Satyxis Raider Sea Witch - PC: 4 Satyxis Gunslingers - Leader & 2 Grunts: 7 Satyxis Gunslingers - Leader & 2 Grunts: 7 THEME: Scourge of the Broken ——- It has a bunch of solos for scoring flags, tricky units to deal with in scenario elements, an ambushing unit that can contest, or create havoc in my opponent’s back lines, lots of ways to get out Feedback damage against Warmachine, lots of ways to lower armor from the caster, and a viable spell assassination with Asphyxious’s feat. Never underestimate the power of Breath of Corruption - even if you miss, if the target is caught by the template after deviation, it still takes a POW 12. I have found that Scything Touch on one of the Satyxis Captains works well. She can run to apply ST where you need it, or she can charge and auto-knockdown two targets (one with whip one with horns), and the arc node following her is then in great position to drop parasite on the knocked down target. With the debuffs, Satyxis Raiders can take down 1-2 heavies per turn. The Blood Witches can be surprising hard hitting with the Hag’s Dark Shroud too. Overall, the list can attrition well, takes up lots of space and does well on scenario. And, while the Feedback doesn’t kill warmachine casters, it drops them to the point that a well placed Hellfire or Breath of Corruption will easily finish the job. I’ve also grown to appreciate the other part of Asphyxious’s feat. That POW 5 can be do work against low-ARM targets, and Parasite on a unit can bring them into that range. It’s a nice side-effect! It has worked really well into those otherwise hard-to-kill Rocketeers!

Well I am not sure if you are mainly looking for a useful warcaster that fits in with and helps the Satyxis, but I wanted Deneghra1 (who will ever only be used in Scourge for me) to fit in a bit better with the rest of the ladies. Thankfully it is criminally easy to make Denny1 fit in perfectly since her head is a separate piece. Just throw on a Satyxis Raider Captain head and you got yourself a new Satyxis warcaster! This is a fun list with my Satyxis that I have been running; Theme: Scourge of the Broken Coast 2 / 2 Free Cards 75 / 75 Army Warwitch Deneghra - WJ: +26 - Nightmare - PC: 18 (Battlegroup Points Used: 18) - Reaper - PC: 13 (Battlegroup Points Used: 8) - Nightwretch - PC: 7 - Nightwretch - PC: 7 - Stalker - PC: 8 Severa Blacktide - PC: 0 Axiara Wraithblade - PC: 0 Satyxis Raider Captain - PC: 4 Satyxis Raiders - Leader & 9 Grunts: 16 - Satyxis Raider Sea Witch - PC: 4 Satyxis Blood Witches - Leader & 9 Grunts: 13 - Satyxis Blood Hag - PC: 4 Satyxis Gunslingers - Leader & 2 Grunts: 7 I know that Nightmare isn't super competitive, but it is too easy to drop Nightmare for a Corruptor and also add in the Blood Priestess. You could also drop one of the Nightwretches for a second unit of Gunslingers at that point since the Corruptor can give you some "meat nodes" to arc spells through.

The best Scourge Casters are IMO Asphyxious1, Coven, a large gap of empty space, Agathia, and Scaverous in that order.
Asphyxious1: Probably the best Scourge caster. Satyxis are fast, but they don’t hit all that hard. Asphyxious1 swings Armor by 5 points every turn of the game meaning the girls can threaten just about anything. He brings a terrifying spell Assassination that you can pull the trigger on at almost any time which is great when you account for all the Feedback damage in the list. My last game into Retribution I was playing for attrition, and halfway through my second turn I realized I had already dropped Thyron to a third of his health with Feedback damage alone. Instead of continuing for attrition I just ran some girls near Thyron and Breath of Corruption’d them in the butt to kill him. I didn’t even need to Feat. Scything Touch is great on Raider Captains since they have Auto Knockdown on their Attacks. You can charge a ST’d Captain into a heavy to knock it down, Parasite it, & all of the Gunslingers can shoot into it at effective Pow 15 and can use Heart Seeker instead of Black Penny.
Coven: Doesn’t crank up the damage nearly as well as Asphyxious1, but Coven crank up the survivability with Occultation, Veil of Mists, & the Feat and offers unparalleled mobility with Veil, Ghost Walk, and Curse of Shadows. Satyxis are very easy to murder, and accurate shooting is everywhere these days. The Coven Feat makes it extremely difficult to remove Satyxis on the approach so combine with their speed, they’ll likely be able to make it to Melee completely untouched. Hilarious theme interaction, the Egregore is a solo, so it gains dodge from the Theme Force, making it more obnoxious to deal with than it usually is.
Agathia: So as a caster she’s basically just a hybrid of Deneghra1 & Coven that isn’t better than either of them. Her delivery isn’t as great as the Coven’s, her mobility is worse than the Coven’s, and her Armor swing is worse than Asphyxious1’s. The reason I list her though and not Deneghra1 is because I think Deneghra1 is just a worse version of Asphyxious1, but Agathia has one trick that’s only really available to her because she has the Bane type. Because Agathia is a Bane model she triggers the Accumulator of the Desecrator, allowing it to make a fully Boosted Shot with no focus investment. The Desecrator’s Void Field brings an interesting element of Board denial to an already extremely fast and strong scenario list. It also interacts hilariously with Severa since anything pulled into a Void Field AoE by a Vortex Blast will take an auto point of damage. Take the fully Boosted Shot at a heavy or objective then Vortex Blast it with Severa to auto kill any single wound models within 2”.
Scaverous: Scaverous’s niche in Scourge is asking the question “What happens when I stack Wrong-Eye’s Star-Crossed, Axiara’s Dodge plan, and Knowledge of the Damned Rerolls on a unit of Satyxis Raiders and jam my opponent with them?” If your opponent can’t deal with them you just win, if they can you’re on a worse version of the Asphyxious1 Assassination plan.
A lot of other Casters, like Deneghra1, can run Scourge just fine, but I don’t think they do anything different enough from the top 4, or do better into problem matchups to justify bringing them over the top 4. Deneghra1 will certainly outperform Scaverous & Agathia in Scourge most of the time, but I don’t think she ever outperforms Asphyxious1, and she basically just does the same thing as him where Scaverous & Agathia can at least offer some interesting tech that Asphyxious1 or the Coven can’t.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the input especially with all of the attached info. Based on your suggestions how does this look- conflictchamber.com/#c4201b_-0Yf_193c1e1vkr2x2x4iks1Q1Tkx1Nke1NkeCryx Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Scourge of the Broken Coast [Agathia 1] Bane Witch Agathia [+29] - Deathripper [6] - Desecrator [14] - Ripjaw [7] - Slayer [10] Axiara Wraithblade [0(6)] Satyxis Raider Captain [0(4)] Satyxis Raider Captain [4] Saxon Orrik [4] Severa Blacktide [0(6)] Satyxis Blood Witches (min) [8] - Satyxis Blood Hag [4] Satyxis Gunslingers [7] Satyxis Raiders (max) [16] - Satyxis Raider Sea Witch [4] Satyxis Raiders (max) [16] - Satyxis Raider Sea Witch [4] I could drop Saxon and the deathripper for another slayer. I was thinking of putting hellwrought on the slayer since it would be the more advanced, position wise, of the 2 jacks. I could also see dropping saxon for the blood priestess but I'm not really sold on her real utility (I'd only be using her for the upkeep since I don't want to have to sucker onto Agathia).

RE the skarre1, you can use the Priestess to cast Dark Rituals every turn, she can trigger her free spell cast by killing a model. Admittedly it ends up costing you two models, but.

Zaku, I didn't see anyone else mention it, but Force Barrier only grants the +2 DEF against ranged attacks and not against magic attacks. Note that the blast immunity doesn't care about the source. leotherat, while I agree with everyone that top contenders for the theme would be Denny 1, Asphyxious 1, Agathia and Coven, I do think you can make a version with all Satyxis work if you want to be fluffy and it shouldn't be too bad: conflictchamber.com/#c4201b_-0Y0IkAkdkrkq9u2xks1Q1Tkxkx1Nke1NkeCryx Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Scourge of the Broken Coast [Skarre 2] Skarre, Queen of the Broken Coast [+26] - Barathrum [15] - Corruptor [14] Axiara Wraithblade [0(6)] Misery Cage [2] Ragman [4] Satyxis Raider Captain [0(4)] Severa Blacktide [0(6)] Satyxis Blood Witches (min) [8] - Satyxis Blood Hag [4] Satyxis Gunslingers [7] Satyxis Gunslingers [7] Satyxis Raiders (max) [16] - Satyxis Raider Sea Witch [4] Satyxis Raiders (max) [16] - Satyxis Raider Sea Witch [4] It will be slightly pillow fisted, hence Ragman. The Raider Captain is great with her, because you can basically guarantee that that +5 DEF from the feat is effective. It will struggle into armour, but your Mortenebra list will handle that and between Black Spot and all those attacks, you will blend infantry like nobody's business. Barathrum is amazing with Admonition, but you could afford to swap out the Corruptor for more reliable arc nodes, though since you'll be playing this into mostly infantry, it should be fine and gives you something to heal Skarre with, since there's not much room to add a Blood Priestess. I would normally like to have a Kraken with her, but Mortenebra already has one. I have assumed you would prefer not to invest in Skarre 3.

germanicus you can always Parasite a unit them feat on them for pow 8s True... but Parasite on an ARM 11 unit is nominally rather overkill! Still, given their invariable death and recovering 7 Focus, it can always be cycled to a new target, so there's merit in it I suppose.
