Well, it's basically aim for the fun thread. More situation on the real Immoren worlds rather than our games that basically considers the clash between the battlegroups and their escorts. Although it is nothing wrong to think about the games, but you don't just need to be stick with it.
So, we have some bad models(as the other factions does). Some of their state are ambiguous or controversial, but many of us are agreed on many issues, and they are safe to say a bad model/unit.
I think that the most 'bad models' are not the models without any single purpose. Rather, they are generally not compatitive with the others, because of either overshadowed by its superior replacement, too specialized and rarely see its niche while underwhelm on the other situations, too expensive or hard to use with not much gain, or just not suited for the meta. But, many of us are find out the situation where they are actually good....
Well, if they have some meaningful situation that they are the best candidate, what situation it does? Not just for the game, but also the fluff.
For me....
Long Gunner Infantry:
-They are able to get the fortified position, ordered to defend it and don't need to be scout the nearby area. Most enemies they may face are mindless Mechanithralls, and they rarely see the antagonists with ranged capabilty, also DEF 14+ or RAT 4~5+ enemies are extremely rare or simply does not exists. In front of them there are many wireworks or anything that prevents the enemy to rush through the line of the Long Gunners directly and they can expect two or more turns after they saw the enemy within their effective range before they will be in melee. In this situation, all they needs to be is just sit down in their position all the times, able to utilized Dual Shot. Also, because they will issued fortified position, they will have the compatitiveness over their better counterpart - Trencher Long Gunner - by having slightly lower points while they also have the survivability of them as well.
Stormguard Infantry:
-Similar to Long Gunner Infantry, but it may expanded with the games that against some specific Cryx army, that spams Mechanithralls and some nimble Cryx units, or against the cavalry units. The enemies are need to be lacking any ranged capability other than non-High-Explosive low powered blasts or must have single target RAT 4 or less weapons, but even so it should be small in number. If they are combined with the weak ranged forces such as Long Gunner Infantry, the enemy ranged threats are not need to threatning these weak rear gunners and let Stormguard Infantry to make the loose line and cover larger area on their 2" melee range.
