Kudos on that stone. Wow, very realistic looking! Thanks man. It is incredibly simple. Paint - drybrush - wash - drybrush a bit more. No skill required, unlike that blasted glow that did not want to turn out well XD

Here we have an update again. a Wold Guardian! The runes still suck im afraid. I have an idea for a very different approach that i will test on the next model, but this will have to do for now. I am going to a small SR event in a couple of weeks, and i am only really interested in playing Krueger 2, but he needs a partner, and since i had no inclination to play Bradigus (and do not own him yet) i figured Kaya 3 could be an option. After having played her a couple of times i have a much stronger inclination to play Bradigus, and therefore i have ordered hin and some more Woldwatchers, and painted up this guy hehe.

Nice. I like the stone effect and the gemstone, plus the base is great. The runes look OK to me, although the face casting light while being very hard to see because of the angle is a bit strange.

Yeah, the angle is strange, but there are eyes under there that glow and i painted the reflecting light. The reflection is a bit strong though i would agree.

That is a cool solution! I might try that for my next one

Here is a quick pic of the concept for my tharn. I WILL stick with the purple skin, and yes, the models are atrocious. God, they were a pain to clean and they are very poorly sculpted compared to more modern models (especially no PP ones ) Lots and lots of models to pain though. Tharn are awesome on the table!

Finally done with something!
I will be organizing a small tournament next week end, and i wanted to play the Kaya 3 Argus spam. I did own 1 winter argus and 3 normal ones, but i didnt want to spend the money on buying a bunch of arguses, so i improvised. these five "Fenrisian Wolves" from the 40k range cost roughly the same as one normal argus. They only had one head each though, so i made casts of some extra heads using "blue stuff bars". This was the first time i used that type of product and the results were mixed, but acceptable. I learned a lot and will do better next time. Then i had to sculpt an extra neck, but that went easier than anticipated and turned out OK. I wont win any painting/sculpting competitions for these, but they sure do look the part imo, and it was a fun little project that saved a lot of money.
I did buy a single Moonhound. The list originally had one, but the decrease in points on the three heavies in there meant i had to shuffle around the things to still get my 4 free things, so i ended up swapping a Feralgeist for another moonhound. That sounds like an upgrade usually, though one less scoring solo is always a bit of an issue. Since i didnt want to buy another moonhound, i took a regular argus i had gotten when i brought the used circle army and chopped off its tail and ears. New ones were easily "sculpted" and i painted it in the same colors as the moonhound. none will be the wiser hehe. I liked the colors on these fellows and i might do something similar on my goat when i paint it. Need to magnetize it first though...
With these things done, i can start focusing on Tharn again! Soooo many things to glue/clean/paint...

The conversions are so good that when I saw the first photo I thought to myself "Since when does GW sell two-headed wolves?". Nice work!

Nicely done! The conversions are done so well it’s hard to tell what is your work and what is the original.

Hehe, thanks guys. That is probably due to low picture quality more than anything else Now my son has just fallen asleep in my lap. The wife is super pregnant (she was super pregnant for 9 months straight last time and this one looks no different) and already sleeping. Time to do more painting!

I did some magnetizing! Im guessing this will be a Shadowhorn 90% of the time, but i like having the options. Didnt bother doing the arms for the shadowhorn though, cause they look super ugly, and have the same weapons as the Gnarlhorn arms anyway. I figured id save some time there
In the last pic you can see the huge gap i was forced to fill around the neck of the gnarlhorn head... True Khador fit...
I promise i will start painting any day (month?) now... Im still gluing tharn models, but it is basically only the wolf riders left now. The rest are primed and ready to go!
