So the original tough guy of the IK is what got me into WM in the first place around the end of Mk II. I haven’t been to impressed with what he can do in III. That was until Caine 0. So I was playing around with this idea of a heavy gun line with Caine providing most infantry removal with his own trick shots and up keeping FFE on Siege’s groundpounder attacks.

It's quite good. Siege1's perennial problem is doing a lot of damage spread around and not finishing off anything. Being able to pick column/branch with Long Gunners and Siege with his Ground Pounder (or another warrior model of your choice), and sealing in that damage with 4 Grievous Wounds shot per turn, solves that problem.

Agree with this completely. Every time I put Siege on the table, it feels like everything is going amazing until it all falls off a cliff really fast, especially with Grymkin's Sacrifice Arcana, it's really important to have access to Grievous Wounds if you plan to have him play into a wide field for armor cracking, otherwise he gets screwed over pretty fast.

I’ve been playing this: Siege HM: Siege -Squire -Triumph -Hurricane StormStrider Jr -Charger Caine0 -Ace Mechanics
I’ve been having a lot of fun with it, Generally my answer to more sustained armor cracking/finishing things off on a later turn has been the hurricane, and it’s worked pretty well thus far. I do like that trencher list idea, and I’m probably gonna give it a shot at some point, though I don’t feel like having 4 shots with the express teams sounds totally necessary...

FFE only works on the first groundpounder attack right? Since they are all separate attacks?

FFE only works on the first groundpounder attack right? Since they are all separate attacks? It boosts all of them since it’s a single star attack. It’s the same for blast weapons.

Well blast attacks are all part of one attack/attack roll. As is the pulse from TH or the flak field on the MM. Groundpounder says to make separate attack rolls on each which is why I thought it was considered separate attacks and FFE would not apply.

This is not disputed. It's the same as a Spray attack. You make a single attack, that results in multiple attack and damage rolls. But you've only ever made one attack. There is a a difference between an "attack" and an "attack roll." For instance, when you make an attack, it must have a target. But there are multiple abilities in the game that allow you to make attack rolls against a model without needing to target it (such as sprays, Ground Pounder, etc.).

I think that I just had it in my head that GP was worded as separate attacks. Thanks!

Is it possible to built Siege1 in a way, he can play into the medium base infantry (Primal Terrors, Gators, Armored Corps,...) that is showing up everywhere ?
Or is there another solution in faction ?

Is it possible to built Siege1 in a way, he can play into the medium base infantry (Primal Terrors, Gators, Armored Corps,...) that is showing up everywhere ? Or is there another solution in faction ? I think Heavy Metal could be built to do that, FFE from Caine0 makes his Ground Pounder very efficient on feat turn. I think the temptation is to take just ranged jacks, but a pair of Centurions could work well, Medium base infantry mostly rely on charging to do their damage, so shutting that down with Polarity Field means you can put the Centurions forward to threaten and contest scenario, and mat 7 pow 18 is not the worst for killing medium infantry. The biggest downside is no Ragman, so it is probably worth taking Aiyana and Holt with Murdoch, you will desperately need that damage buff, and fudge-hole can keep them safe against ranged retaliation.
Outside of Heavy Metal, Gravediggers could work, you can take Ragman, Express Teams shut down tough and healing, Trench Busters hit hard, but then Gravediggers works well for pretty much any caster

I've just started with Warmachine myself, and Siege seems super fun in the couple of small games I have played him in, alongside Triumph.
I've put together a list of mostly just stuff I own, which should work pretty well with him:
Cygnar Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Heavy Metal
[Brisbane 1] Major Markus "Siege" Brisbane [+28] - Charger [9] - Charger [9] - Hunter [10] - Ironclad [12] - Triumph [18] - Squire [0(5)] Captain Arlan Strangewayes [4] Journeyman Lieutenant Allister Caine [0(5)] - Charger [9] - Charger [9] Field Mechaniks (min) [3] Long Gunner Infantry (max) [16] - Long Gunner Infantry Officer & Standard [4]
Yes, I have a bit of a low-key fetish for chargers, and I'd like to pick up a Defender or two to shove in there somewhere
