I have really been slacking with the reports lately, but i have been busy (some how)
Was at a 16 man tournament today and did quite poorly. won the first and last games, landing me in 7th place. It was a REAL shark tank though. Out of 16 players, there were 8 WTC players, and i got to play against 3.
First game was My Bradigus against the Ossrum of Sergei Lakissov of the Estonian WTC team who flew in to Stockholm over the day to participate. We played The Pit 2 and he got to go first. He runs up fairly far since he plays Irregulars and has AD on his jacks. I position defensively around a building in the middle in return. He shoots my stuff with solos and some bunnies and does significant damage to my Warden, crippling it and applying grievous wounds. He might have killed a light too, and one of my units of manikins by removing stealth with his battle engine. He feats and goes in against a Watcher with tho heavies and kill it.
In retaliation i first check an assassination, and if bunnies could be pushed, i would have killed him, or if he had placed it a quarter of an inch to the right. But alas no, i have to play attrition. I do kill two heavies and a bunny under his feat.
His retaliation is too strong though. My heavies go down to a mix of shooting and melee, and things look really bad attrition wise. He is lowish on clock though and i manage to hang on until his clock run out (i still have 19 minutes left by then). He was totally up on attrition, and i would not have been able to contest the east side much longer. but i luck out and take the first game.
Second game was against Gustav Linderup of the Swedish team D.A.S.E. (they may claim that it is acronym, but "dase" means "dick" so...
) I play Krueger and he plays Harby and we play on Mirrage.
I will not bore you with the details, but on my turn 2 i spend half my army trying to kill his bloody book that prevents me from casting spells, and then after i have rolled hilariously bad, he martyrs it... Forgot about that. I continue falling over my own feet the whole round and do nothing except kill one of the monks (he martyred a lot, but he let it go in the end). I changed plans so often that he actually scored 2 points to my 1 point... on my turn 2... with Krueger 2 on mirrage... Yeah, not my proudest moment...
He responds by killing 2 heavies and i have to assassinate. My plan is to push him back from his obstacle and have the Fulcrum finish him off. Before i push i can shoot with a Mannikin and a Wyrd and Krueger, but DEF is very high. Then when i feat he tells me his knight dude has sturdy, and i cant push him back. The fulcrum has to go for the crit stationary and gets it! I roll poor damage though and fail to kill him. Had i taken the Fulcrum first (and managed to crit) i totally kill him there, but that was my only out, so i cant complain that it failed really.
Game 3 was against Gustav Berggren (also of Team D.A.S.E.) and his Anamag in Primal Terrors. I decide to play Bradigus, which in retrospect is not great i think. Anyway, I get to go first which really helps and take some space. He runs up and bunkers up pretty well with chosen in front of a BB. I do some shooting, but i cant really get at him with a good alpha.
He alphas some lights and does less damage than he probably expected, only killing the Wight (but heavily damaging others). He did not feat though. I manage to use my feat and synergy to kill a lot of stuff, finishing with a Warden to the blight bringer. On average dice i do 55 damage, but i end up like 8 boxes short. womp womp. I needed that to work to have even a little bit of a game.
He feats and attacks, killing my Guardians and one Watcher, but two watchers miraculously survive! the Warden is also unhurt, though he is outside the control range now and full of fury (the pull back from the feat). I sort of give up, and try to clear the east zone for control points for tie breakers. That fails.
He clears out my lights and things are looking really bad. He has left his caster exposed though, and his only transfer target is a harrier who is in the middle of my stuff!
I kill the Harrier with sprays from my solos, but then i run out of clock. We roll out the assassination, but i miss a stone with Brad and he only hits once, and the Warden does a boosted Rift, leaving him on 2 boxes. I totally lost the game, but it COULD have worked, lol.
Last game is against Andreas Engström (not on any WTC team, hurray!) with his Vlad 1 with 3 colossals. I drop Bradigus. We play on Spread the net. He goes first and runs forward.
I move up, but he threatens 15 frigging inches, so i have to be a bit passive. I use my lights to block charges though.
He hangs back and shoots doing some damage, but not killing any beast, but one stone and the wayfarer,
I Can actually connect with 2 Watchers, 2 Wights and a Guardian with feat, so i go for it. I forget to give + STR to the guardian, so he and the two Wights just barely kill the eastern Victor. The two Watchers walked up and punched the central conquest to stack synergy and did stone form. My Guardian is a nut hair in front of my square zone after the feat pull back, so i do not score there, and i ran to contest his zone with teh chef instead of taking my flag, so i do not score there either
My second guardian was placed cleverly behind a forest to avoid LoS from the conquest, but it turns out it was within 15" of the Victor. His Victor charges and kills my unused Guardian, and damages a Watcher (who could EASILY have been blocking that charge lane... and his Conquest takes free strikes from the Watchers engaging it and goes and kills the other Guardian. His last attack misses the Wight he had also engaged though which is super fortunate.
I now plan to kill his victor with any of my 3 Watchers plus the Warden and Bradigus. I manages to charge Bradigus in in such a way to be more than 6" away from the Conquest (who is on the other side of a forest) very cleverly. I have stacked up synergy and all and do good damage. However i have now place Bradigus so the Warden can not reach... I punch away at the Victor with all i have got, but he has one arm and coretex left and i am engaging him with Brad camping 1... With a half dead guardian as my only transfer target to boot. Hurray! I do score a point though in my zone. I COULD have been much closer to the conquest than 6" though cause i had a light and like 5 shifting stones blocking the way and he has nothing to remove them with. Real silly...
He loads up Victor and casts S&P. He needs 8s to hit, and he gets 4 attacks. If he hits 3 i die, if he hits 2 i MIGHT survive. He hits 2 and roll poor on damage leaving me on 3. I score 1 more.
I kill the Victor and clear his square zone, scoring it with a watcher. Bradigus is camping 2, and i have a full Watcher to transfer to. I now lead 4-0.
He has to assassinate, and to get LoS to Brad he needs to kill a stone my casting spells with Vlad. He manages it, but cant cast S&P. The conquest walks up and shoots, but RAT 4 wont cut it. I transfer away all damage except a small gun that did 1 point. I win on scenario 6-0 with only 2 mins left on clock.
In short i can say... i SUCK! Sooo much improvement to be done. I cant blame my lists or my dice, but there is SOO much more potential here that i have not unlocked here. I should probably have dropped Krueger in to Anamag, and possibly in to Ossrum too, but his high ARM intimidated me, and the fact that i can not push his jacks. Well well. Just keep on trying i guess. Next up might be a CID game or two
