Sounds like the answer is just: play Nemo 3...

Sounds like the answer is just: play Nemo 3... That is definitely a good answer...but I'm thinking more about ADR at the moment.

So if we can't punch the armor or shoot the armor what do you do? Stormblade infantry. I like them with arcane shield (just for one round) and Stryker2 decel. That makes them ARM20 vs shooting, or 23 with Iron Zeal. They get there and hit with a crapton of POW15 charges. Even better with positive charge. EDIT: Oh crap. Are we still talking heavy metal?

Against high ARM target jacks are better than units. And Stormblade Infantry is not that good with Stryker2 - they are better with Stryker1, Caine1 and Haley3.

I disagree that Stryker is not that good with SBI. Positive Charge makes them Mat 9 Pow 17. His feat essentially gives them two attacks so for 15 points you have potentially 8 pow 14 assault shots followed by 16 pow 17 attacks. Just need to have a lancer with PC on it within 3 inches. If you can get Ragman into the mix then even better. As for defense Deceleration puts them at Arm 17 vs shooting base, 20 with mini feat or 23 with AS which essentially lets you put AS on more valuable models.

Honestly, I love that there's so much variation that there's still a debate about what's best. It lets us each bring the armies we think are best, and who's right or wrong is more subjective than anything. If you win your game and I lose mine, it's not necessarily my list - maybe you're just a better player. And reading these debates helps readers learn interactions and different things to try. Yay warmachine!

I don't think that they are useless for him either. But they are not that good pick consider the opportunity cost. Stryker2 can't use all the component of them, and they are desperately need for support as well. For cheap points he can bring some groups of Sword Knights insted, and he can consider Storm Lances as well. P+S 17 with boosted damage roll&POW 14 attack are powerful indeed, but P+S 15 boosted damage rolls followed by a barrage of POW 14 ttacks already do something, like as butchering a Juggernaut in a turn. Against armor skews units are rarely does significant role and you will need the jack anyways, and Stryker2's arsenal is not short of anti armor solution.

I always opt for Storm Lances over Stormblade Infantry, a 9" threat vs a 13" threat is just worlds apart, also immunity to single damage plinks (sniper, corrosion, scathers, void field etc.) is pretty big.

Although more vulnerable against few high powered shots.

SBa threat is too low honestly, otherwise they would be good.

I think we have gone rather far off the OP...can we just lock this?

Although the question on OP is jacks, but it is units what he really need, for his choice of caster is Stryker2.
