In my Helynna LoD list I don't even bother with heavies. 4 harpies and a marshalled siren are all you need. 2 units of sentinels also cover that pretty well. It's gross.

I haven't had a chance to play her again recently since with the Ret CID coming I figure I should get it Grymkin games before the hype train hits. How often do you guys find you actually use her gun though? In theory it's a great positioning tool but every time I've used it it's either gotten her killed or it's because she's already under threat of getting killed. It seems difficult to use proactively.

I have used it on 2 occasions out of my 5 games with her to move a key enemy model either off of a hill or out of a forest to make them easier for my ranged elements to shoot, then using Rhythm of War blocking off any paths for retaliation. It definitely is tricky to keep her safe once she's that close to the action though.

It's really more about the threat of it. Keep reminding your opponent it exists, because that effect can have a big impact on your opponent's strategy. You may not take the shot because of rat 5, but your opponent can't risk it.
That's the value of many corner case abilities in the game.

One way that the gun has been useful for me is to set up side step targets for Imperatus. Granted it is only one target moved, but late game that might be enough.
