Boil Master and Spirit Cauldron Study

I have run almost an identical list to this one for a little while now (10 games so far). The only changes are a Witch Doctor instead of the Totem Hunter and a second posse instead of Croaks. Overall I think I am 8-2 with it and both loses were because I tested what you asked in regards to how hard is Barnabas to kill and both times it didnt really work out for me haha.

His best match ups are living, close combat focused armies. There have been certain match ups were I actually feel bad for my opponent as trying to kill him is so futile (-4 MAT and star crossed does that). The biggest thing is making sure he right behind the front line with a unit of gators running interference for him. The games where he has done best for me are ones were he is almost on the front line (like 3" back) and uses the gators as a buffer. Your opponent will really need resources to kill Baranbas and if they have to waste them killing gators it means they probably wont be killing your caster.

Bad match ups are Cryx and I would think Cygnar (I normally use Arkadius for them, so havent tested it). Cryx has so many debuffs and so few living models to be effected by Swarm they just power through his debuffs. I actually find there are lots of match ups where B2 really isnt great. Anything that can stationary you or give you any kind of def debuff is just bad news. My last game was against Baulder 1 and I got a bit cocky into how much B2 could handle and Baulder hit B2 with his sword to apply a -3 Def debuff, which meant it was game over for me.

Part of me really likes Barnabas 2 and I love seeing his model on the table. He has a bunch of really cool things that he does and is personally a murder machine. With all that being said I honestly don't see the point in him for a 2 list pairing. There are so many other casters that just seem better at what he does. Barnabas 1, Carver, Rask and Arkadius all run battle group heavy armies better and Maelok seems to run the Blindwalker Posse style list way better than he does. Maybe I havent figured him out, but other than just for fun games or doing something different I don't really see the point in him.
