I know that we have quite a few theme forces, but because of the diverse and often disconnected nature of the faction, I think having one more theme force, i.e. one more than any faction, is still defensible. However, what theme should the theme force be based upon? There are a couple of ideas that I have had about new theme forces for the Mercenaries but I am also interested in your ideas. Here is what I have so far. 1. Ogrun theme- Rhulic Ogrun and Black Ogrun, plus Ogrun outcasts like Gudrun and Hutchuk- we could need some kind of Ogrun warcaster, perhaps an Ogrun that does double duty with Crucible Guard. Perhaps Hutchuk 2 could be a Crucible Guard partisan Mercenary warcaster. Ogrun do not have magical powers in the fluff, except some shamnic or priestly abilities. To gain real magic, they need to be possessed, corrupted, or injected by an alchemical serum like Crucible Guard does. This would be the perfect tie to a Crucible Guard-themed Ogrun warcaster and who better to be that warcaster than Hutchuk2. 2. Underworld (metaphorical and literal) theme- This would be the Kayazy, Alexia Ciannor and her Undead, perhaps some rogue Necromancers, Croe's cuthroats and the Cephalyx. 3. Pure Steelheads- This theme would be different from Kingmaker's army in that there would be no Cygnaran units in it and no Magnus. We woudl need a new Steelhead warcaster to complement MacBain (unofficial Steelhead) and Damiano (official Steelhead). The bonuses would be better than in Kingmaker's Army for Steelheads because they would lose tons of support. 4. Ordic Army- I have been waiting a long time for an Ordic theme. This theme would be the Ordic Army and mercenaries from Ord. There would be new units and solos, but also would feature Carvolo, Montador, and Damiano prominently. The Toro would finally get Tried and True in this theme. 5. A second Rhulic theme- I know I know, people did not like my first proposal for a second Rhulic theme. However, that idea was based on dividing Rhulic mercenaries from the Rhulic regular army. This proposal is different. The theme here would be the Rhulic wilds. So Brun and Lug would be an important part of it. New solos and units would include rural Rhulic clan warriors, Rhulic Dwarf Shaman, and some more bears. Another idea in this theme would be to have Rhulic warlock character who could only in this theme force or a Minion (Brun2?). The idea of a Hordes-style Rhulic mercenary army is intriguing to me, but it may be better as a Minions idea.

Short answer: No.
There really isn't much room for more themes. We have 3 generic themes for mercs and 3 for sub factions. That's plenty.
Anyone who needs a specific theme need only look to Irregulars.
However, if we WERE to get another theme, it would be Steelheads. They're the largest group that doesn't have a dedicated theme. Then again, though... Irregulars.

A partisan / Morrow one would be cool if it came with some releases, but it'd be a while off. As for your number 4... I feel like that is Crucible Guard. I mean from what I gathered, after their defeat in Llael they relocated their main base into Ord under the agreement that they would take over jack production for Ordic forces. As such, they are kinda the "ordic" jack producers, and hence pretty close to an Ordic army. If you wanna use the mercenaries that often lend aid to Ord when the coin is good, it's Steelheads in Irregulars or a Pirates under Bart. Bart is technically a privateer, which means he fights and plunders for the Ordic crown, but can be called on specifically should the crown need it. As such he represents an official part of the Ordic Navy. The steelhead casters hold no real allegiance to anyone... but fight for Ord because it's their home, and more importantly they pay well. Either way I feel Irregulars pretty much covers it.

Crucible Guard is not an Ordic faction per se.

I'm not sure that's how an IK Letter of Marque worked (or even how a real world one did - it wasn't for some late-seventeenth century English/French ones I've seen). The Mk2 Mercenaries book says nothing about being called upon by the Crown, merely that Letters of Marque authorize the holder's piracy, provided a share of plunder is given to the Crown and (theoretically) limiting the activities of the holder and their forces (weapons used, legitimate targets). The only mention of a relationship to the navy is in freeing the navy to perform military duties. There's even an example on p.90 (Montador's letter) and there's nothing there about directly working for the Crown. Ord does issue lots of letters of Marque, but that doesn't mean they're part of the military, or a directly controllable military resources. Frankly, if Five Fingers was one of your main cities, authorizing the pirates who frequent it, and claiming some of their plunder, is probably about the best you can do.

There is more room for a new theme force, than another thread by you.
On a less snarky note I'd like to see a Steelhead theme. If they release a couple of solos, maybe a new unit or UA/WA and fix the cavalry there's plenty of #designspace for a theme.

I may have been wrong about "being called on by the crown". Upon further reading it does sound more like they were given authority by the crown, and from there the privateers did whatever they wanted within some boundaries. I haven't actually read barts letter, by chance do you have a link? it'd be cool to read!

Back to the topic of themes:
I have wanted for a while is a pair of themes: Morrowan and Thamarite. The Morrowan theme I think would be split between the Mercs and Cygnar, basically whatever your battle group consists of will determine what faction you are playing. The Thamarite one would be straight Mercs as, so far, all the Thamarites (Fiona, Savio, Ragman and I think that's it so far) are Mercs first.

I'd like Steelheads (to sort the cavalry - give them Lunge and they're probably OK), but it might be tricky from a background perspective. According to the Guts and Gears on Steelheads, they: (1) Are fairly conservative - their manual (which covers everything they should do) hasn't been changed in centuries. That might limit the space for new models; (2) Deliberately adopted a keep it simple philosophy - halberdiers, riflemen and heavy cavalry are it. However, that article and other pieces would leave some openings: (i) There's a mention of the Steelhead riflemen including some sharpshooters, so there's a possible UA or solo. But some sharpshooters can already be obtained in Irregulars (Kell, for example); (ii) Some chapter houses do have some jacks, which work with marshals and are closely integrated with the soldiers for fighting purposes. So jack marshal solos/UA + a rule linking the warriors and jacks. But Irregulars kind of does this (albeit with character specific jack marshals); (iii) There was league fiction including Steelheads which had an Ogrun member who had taken the Steelhead organization as his korune. That might lead to a character solo, or simply the inclusion of Bokurs in any theme. That seems the only fluff mentioned selection which isn't covered by Irregulars due to the Bokur's exclusion.

Khador got 2 new jacks on a chassis thats been considered outdated in the fluff for more than a century, they can retcon a unit type or UA for the steelheads.
A solo wouldnt even need retconning, a journeyman warcaster, an unnamed lieutenant or captain, a contract lawyer as a support solo?

I can't see steelheads getting their own theme force with Irregulars and Kingmakers in existence, but it would be nice if the heavy cav got a fix (maybe even something as simple as "When taken in a merc theme force, gain lunge", fluff it up as they feel comfortable fighting with their own people).
Morrow and Thamarite would be a cool idea (if we had more models to support it) as a single theme force whose benefits changed depending on which side had the majority of the points (like, 40 points thamarite/35 morrowan gives a different set than the reverse).

As we have seen so far, all of the themes/sub-themes within a faction, have all gotten new stuff. This is a total wish list of themes after all.
